Owner description: Fota Wildlife Park is Cork's most visited Tourist Attraction and has been awarded best family day out in Cork and Munster. The Park is set on 70 acres on the scenic Fota Island in the heart of Cork Harbour only 15 minutes from Cork City (top 10 in the best cities to visit in the Lonely Planet guide's 'Best in Travel 2010').The park is not like an ordinary zoo; here you can come face to face with free roaming animals & birds from all parts of the world. So whether it's a kangaroo that hops in front of you or a ring tailed lemur which jumps down from a tree, each visit is sure to bring its own fantastic memories. In addition to the wonderful array of free roaming animals, visitors also have the opportunity to see highly endangered species such as the Rothschild giraffe, European Bison, Lion Tailed Macaque and Scimitar Horned Oryx, most of them without the obstacle of fenced-in exhibits. This is the most spectacular aspect of Fota Wildlife Park, and is the reason you'll want to spend a full day exploring Ireland's Wildest Attraction.

Great day out with the kids. Bring a picnic. If you have an annual pass for Dublin Zoo, it will also cover admission to Fota.

“The only zoo I would visit”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

Well that's because it's not a zoo! It's a wild life park - and it has plenty of that feel good factor. The animals have plenty space. The atmosphere of the place is friendly with some of the more tame creatures wandering about eyeing up yer peanuts.

Although staff can sometimes be a little thin on ground when you stroll about it - who needs em? This is a place for a stroll or a skip and a prance. The children LOVE it and now that they have expanded facilities further it gives you more of a reason to visit regularly. I would visit this place like I would the park, but with added buffalos and cheetas...

“Lovely day out”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

Went recently with our two year old daughter and she loved it. Lots of room for them to run about, and the animals are lovely and close. Bring a picnic and eat at the tables half way around. There is a small playground here as well for kiddies, with toilets & a cafe. Favourite had to be the giraffes!

“Fota, the little gem of Cork”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

for visitors to Cork I would recommend a trip to Fota Wildlife Park. The park has been recently renovated and it shows! I would advise to keep the new sand pit play area until you are about to leave as it is virtually impossible to get the kids out of there. On a good sunny day, ( rare we know), walking around fota is a lovely way to spend a day. There is a fast food restaurant there, but to be honest, we normally bring a picnic, it is lovely to sit at one of the outdoor tables and have something to eat while he kids have a play around the playhouse. Look out for the lemurs that are sometimes lose and hopping around the trees on your way to the straight path the runs parralel to the train track. The only down side I would say is that i think the entrance fee is expensive for an average family of two adults and two children, so my tip, if you have family or friends in cork, check have they got a family membership with fota and borrow it for the day!

“Not as good as summer visit”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Overall, it is a great place top take a ramble around - This is our second visit but this time there seemed less animal around which was a bit disappointing especially for the kids - But on saying all of that it is clean and a really nice place and all enjoyed couple of hours we were there which was time enough, If you are staying in a hotel or resort make sure you ask for a discount voucher for 10% off.
