We were there in September, 2006. This is a very nice hotel. We stayed in a corner, river room 1407. The room was very clean and large with great river views. The furniture was modern with a nice couch and two chairs with a coffee table. We ate at the bar restaurant one night and the food was very good. The location is also very close to the bus station (3 blocks), the train station (short cab ride), and the city center. There is not too much to actually see in Cork City, so you might want to stay in Blarney or Cobh, but we would definitely stay at the Clarion if we were in the area again.

Stayed at the Clarion recently and found the hotel to be quite nice.
The exterior and lobby areas are well designed and very spacious. The front desk staff were a mixed bunch. Some were very friendly and helpful while others struggles to smile or even say hello.
We stayed in one of the corner suites for three nights and found the room to be excellent. It was more expensive than standard rooms but was worth it. The view of the river was lovely. The biggest problem with the room was the bed. I expected more than two single beds pushed together to make a queen sized bed. This was very poor for a suite in a four star hotel. In addition to this the matresses were not comfortable. I struggled to get a decent nights sleep.
The other main issue with the Clarion was the breakfast. A very poor selection of foods were offered and there was a shortage of the items that were offered. Very little hot food was offered for vegetarians. The waiting staff appeared indifferent and took a long time to respond to requests, even for tea/coffee/toast.
The Bar is quite nice but lacks any real atmosphere. It offers a nice cocktail list but the staff seem to have trouble making them.
Dinner in the restaruant was very good. The service was very attentive, and the food was very good.
Te gym and leisure centre are located in the basement and are well equiped. However, we did notice what appeared to be cotton wool floating in the pool which kind of disturbed our leisurely swim.
Overall the Clarion is a nice new property which is centrally located and a good base to enjoy Cork.

We spent an enjoyable weekend at the Clarion. It is an excellent new hotel, with good comfortable rooms, a superb bar (with Thai food during the day) and good breakfasts. The hotel is very handy for the City Centre and within walking distance of the main Cork amenities. Thoroughly recommended for a city break.

We stayed at the Clarion Hotel Cork for three nights in July.
From the moment we entered th hotel were were very impressed with the decor, service and ambience of the hotel.
We were given free breakfast each day and 2 free dinners each. The food was outstanding!
The rooms are well furnished and our view of the Atrium was enjoyable and quiet.
The facility is airconditioned and that was a plus, due to the hot temperatures at the time.
We walked to and from the train station and the bus station is just behind the facility. Also, the hotel is very convenient to walking everywhere in Cork.
I would go back to Cork just to stay at this hotel. it is one of the nicest hotels ever for us,...and we travel quite often!!

We stayed for 2 nights in July at The Clarion and found it to be very enjoyable in every way. From the moment we arrived and all through our stay the staff were very friendly and professional. Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size. The spa was very good with a good sized pool.
The inner "courtyard area" is an excellent place to relax with a drink or a light breakfast if you do not want to eat in the restaurant.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and the fact that it is very reasonably priced is an added bonus.

I stayed at the Clarion for 1 night in June,

Location - As other reviewers have mentioned, it is very central, and 3 minutes walk to the bus station.

Room - I had requested a river room at time of booking, and was not disappointed, the view from the balcony was lovely and the room was stylish and bright. I thought the iron and ironing board in the cupboard was a useful touch.

Staff - The staff were young, friendly and very helpful. There was plenty of staff on reception, so no wait to check in or out.

Spa - I had some treatments at the spa, and would highly recommend it. The therapist was really nice, and there was no mention of "products to purchase ", which was refreshing, as often there is pressure to purchase some of the products used during the treatment.

Food - I only had breakfast, there was loads of choice. The restaurant decor, like the rest of the hotel is very modern.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
