Terrific a little hole in the wall which is also part of the imperial hotel and the fish here is super super fresh like it's just come off the boat and priced to sell really good value particularly late at night on the way home from one of the great Cork pubs

Went here recently expecting to get a high quality take away after reviewing their web site. Hoping to order calamari and cod both with chips. No calamari so went with 2 cod. This was not too longing in coming and one doesn't mind a suitable wait for freshly cooked food. Eventually it was served out by a young man nicely dressed in chef's whites and blue rubber gloves, which one expects are worn to isolate your food from his skin? I was shocked to see him extend his gloved hand to take my bank notes and return notes and coin. So much for hygiene. The next customer therefore was likely to have his food order handled by gloves tainted with my filthy lucre! Likely I was in the same boat but there to witness it. The food boxes had a weird smell which I could not identify, but I suspect it was to do with the cooking oil.
The fish was fresh and tasty, chips hand cut but nothing special and a bit meagre in quantity. The tub of peas was awash in water and had to be drained on arrival at home. Definitely not in any hurry to go back there again.

This is the to go counter for the Pembroke restaurant attached to the imperial hotel. The fish and chips are cooked to order and are generally everything you want in a fish and chips. They have cod, haddock, hake, salmon and others depending upon market availability. The fish cakes are large, moist and excellent. The Atlantic seafood chowder is very good. Prices are reasonable at around 9 Euros a portion.

Had the pleasure of welcoming some of our Dutch friends to Ireland. I had to introduce them to the authentic Irish Fish n Chip shop. As always the fish hatch does not disappoint. Quick service, great price and a fantastic take away. I recommend sitting on the blocks outside the G.P.O (Weather permitting) and taking in the Cork atmosphere.

Fresh fish, tasty chips - if you're in need of a late night take out, then make sure to head to the Fish Hatch right beside the Imperial Hotel.
