“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

I ate here with my boyfriend and I'm going again this Friday for my brother's 30th birthday. The food was amazing. We opted for the €35 set menu and the bread was deelish! With gorgeous accompanying dips. Fish was quite obviously fresh.
Great all round and I'll review our visit after Friday also.

“Excellent seafood!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Excellent seafood, perfectly cooked. We visited the restaurant as a party of 6 on a recent Saturday night, we did only book 24hours in advance, but were slightly disappointed to be on a table in the the back corner of the restaurant slightly off to the side of the main seating area. There had obviously been a big party in the restaurant in that area as there was a huge table that would have seated at least 20 people, but this was empty, leaving us feeling we were sitting away from the rest of the restaurant goers and it was therefore slightly lacking in atmosphere. There was a piano player playing which was lovely, the food was excellent although several of the dishes had run out. Staff were quite helpful although I did feel that after being told there were 2 portions of certain dishes left when seating us, they should have come back to tell us that these were gone before coming to take our order, when 2 of our party had chosen those dishes and then had to redecide what to have whilst the waiter was waiting to take our order. Slight improvements to the service to match the quality of the food would make this restaurant a force to be reckoned with in Cork.

“Amazing food and great service”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Probably the best meal I've eaten in Cork City. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The plaice with gnocchi that I had for main was particularly good with bits of perfectly cooked squid and samphire hiding under the generous portion of fish so every bite was new and unexpected. I loved the delicate use of sauces and purees so that nothing was smothered or overpowered. Instead the reliance was upon the natural flavours of the ingredients, of which every mouthful was seasoned perfectly and the combinations were bang on. The waiter was great, recommended a wine that was exactly what we were looking for and paced everything perfectly. Price is top end but it's worth it. The restaurant itself isn't mind-blowing and never was either when it was Augustines but who cares when the food is so good.

“The best food iv ever had!!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

Iv been lucky enough to have eat'n all over, and so called the best places city's have to offer, but this small place within a hotel is just mind blowing.

Myself and my better half went here around 6.30 for dinner, we had the early bird!! Which is 7 courses of heaven including tea.

We did have a class of white wine each. The total was 45 each so 90€ for early bird is a little high in this day and age but the food/service/staff/ live piano player was just world class.

Would def return but for any body going here please please be careful of the prices.
