Fresh food, fast service and excellent choice of gluten free options. The soup was also gluten free which was a nice treat. Portions are very generous. The only downside is how busy it is, it can be difficult to get a table.

Have visited Jam on a few occasions, could not agree with Brian's review more! While service and food is tops ,quantity needs toning down! I can eat like the best of them but struggle to eat the portions served here, that's not always a good thing! Cut down the portions,we know the food is great but smaller portions please! My most recent order was a pavlova, enough for two!

Had lunch here recently and the place was humming with mothers with babies, couples meeting for lunch and clearly retired people meeting for lunch. Prices are reasonable and staff are helpful. This is not strictly table service as customers have to Q at the counter and select and then a waiter/waitress brings it to the table. When I was there I could see this went wrong on occasion when a person could not be matched with the food ordered. Perhaps the numbering system used in other cafes where one is handed a number on a stand after ordering which you place on your table which makes it easy for the waiter/waitress to match the food ordered to the customer. Nice touches such as large carafes of water with mint and/or lemon and I also noted that staff were swift to offer to assist older persons to carry their tray to their table. My guest and I found the food heavy and stodgy. The portions are large but there is a certain lack of finesse in the preparation and serving of the dishes e.g. the potatoe salad looked good but the potato was cut rather large and overloaded with mayonnaise. The sheperds pie look good but enormous. Their quiches also need a lighter touch- large helpings aren't to everyones taste and the pastry is heavy and the ingredients hearty rather than light. I will return but will choose more carefully.
