“Best Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2011

Wow, most delicious breakfast we had in Ireland! The owner was soooo accomodating and sweet. Still dreaming of the porridge with Baileys and the scones. We stayed in the 3 bedroom house across the street, perfect for our family of 6, but could accomodate more. Quiet, comfortable and clean. Nice if you want to have your own kitchen and sitting room.

Stayed 2 nights with my wife. Rooms are fine, with a good bed and very clean. Small bathroom with excellent shower. The highlight was the breakfast -- amazing selection and excellent food. Overall a first rate experience. We could not have asked for more.

In keeping with previous reviews, it must be said that the breakfast choice and quality was absolutely outstanding. The sample menu can be viewed online and it says it all really. We had a superior double room upstairs at the front of the property. It was occasionally a bit noisy outside being close to the university, but not too bad overall. The room was very clean with good tea provisions etc, the only negative was the bathroom being very small. That said, it was a lovely powerful shower.
This was a good location being only a 10 minute walk into the centre, but we also had a hire car to explore the surrounding area.
Staff could not have been more friendly and I would recommend the Garnish House without hesitation to anyone visiting Cork.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are probably a bit quieter.

Stayed for two nights and have never encountered such wonderful hospitality anywhere. From tea and scones on arrival to tea and scones on departure they really could not do enough for you. A wonderful place and words can't do it justice. If you are going to Cork, which is s lovely town, stay at the Garnish!

We stayed in Garnish House for 3 nights. It prides itself on a sumptuous breakfast and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Our deluxe room was pleasant and roomy. Parking was tight. We used Cork as a base to see the area; it would have been easier based outside the city. Our stay was comfortable but we found the tariff high for what was provided.

The Garnish House was great. Someone was there to greet us right away and they carried our bags upstairs (to the top floor) for us as well. We were offered tea, coffee and scones right away and it was the best scone I ate on my entire trip to Ireland. The location was great and was within short walking distance of the town center. The other reviewers weren't joking about breakfast. It was fantastic and definitely worth it. If I return to Cork, I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

We just finished a walking tour along the Beara Peninsula with a 3 day stay at the Garnish House in Cork. What a treasure. We were met at the door and ushered into the breakfast room by Marcel(a wonderful young man) who set us up with tray after tray of fresh baked scones, fruit cakes and pot after pot of hot tea. Each breakfast was astounding. Staff was attentive and rooms were lovely. It was a wonderful stay and we hope to go once again. I would easily rate this a 5 star guesthouse.
