I heard that new management has taken over the Anglers Rest i had to go have look...new menu is lovely with a wide selection, the beer garden out the back is a great place to go with my mates after work for a few quiet ones and an easy taxi to town.

Head chefs Enchiladas are amazing and a decent size so great value for money!!the service was great too and felt really homely.

Really enjoyed my experience here and think the new management are doing a great job!!

I needed something quick and tasty and remembered seeing an advert for this hostelry in last weekend's Examiner. Service was poor and disinterested, food was poor and badly presented and the place was dirty. Not cheap and certainly not cheerful. Couldn't recommend it under any heading. Why waste money on big adverts if there is no effort to provide even the basic food quality or service?

Home-made vegetable soup was simply glorified cabbage water. It came with two thick slices of brown bread, shame it was at least a week old.Only veg on offer was cabbage and turnip. While I like my veg crunchy these were seriously under-cooked.Roast beef was tough, there were no roast potatoes.Overall the portions were small, the selection was terrible, the food was very poorly cooked and presented.€11.95 for lunch would have been acceptable if the food was edible and the portions were generous. The pub/restaurant could do with a bit of brightening up and a good clean.Would not recommend or return.

Went there for a quick lunch, place wasn't busy, we were waiting around 10 minutes for our dishes which was just ok, however whole place was dirty and old fashioned. Probably good place to get a local pint but poor as the restaurant.

Went here for dinner today, what bad value. Dinner served on medium breakfast plates, which were stone cold. Salmon stuffed with bread stuffing, took away all the flavour. Beef so tough it could not be cut with the knife supplied. Nothing good to say really, If you like your traditional dinner, don't go here. Staff were very boring and failed to interact with the customer. Girl behind the bar spent her time flicking her hair around. Cold and dreary. It is supposed to be renovated, I would like to know who designed the place, it is very dark and dingy. What a pity, it has so much potential, with beautiful grounds surrounding the river. Wake up owners or sell out.
