Description: Real Italian food at La Dolce VitaAuthor: Louise CashellCork recently welcomed a brand new Italian restaurant, La Dolce Vita, located on Proby's Quay. Although the business is only in its starting stages, La Dolce Vita, is quickly gathering a reputation for its 'real Italian food'.Some of this noteworthy food includes the pizzas, which are cooked on a brick oven, the only one of its kind in Cork. At La Dolce Vita, only the best and freshest ingredients are used and all pasta is made on site at the restaurant. The restaurant can cater for large bookings and would be an ideal venue for office Christmas parties. The romantic and friendly atmosphere only adds to the rustic, Italian vibe of La Dolce Vita who offer a variety of excellent Sicilian wines to accompany the wonderful dishes that are prepared by Sicilian chef Paolo Perrone.

Had a lunch here. It was ok, nothing special but not that bad either. I might try it again and see how it is. The lunch and early bird seems good value for money

“dont see how this place got so many good reviews”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

Food was very poor, very little of it was fresh a lot of it came from the freezer. Everything was unbelievably salty. Service was functional but not once was our table checked on apart from taking the order and delivering the food. We did meet friends there as we were leaving who are regulars for pizza. We did not have pizza so maybe there was our mistake. but out of 6 dishes ordered. 1(chocolate Flan) was good 2 (Tiramasu and Rissoto) were mediocre and the rest were poor. How it has so many favorable reviews on this site is beyond me as it didn't strike me as "bad night" mistakes. Cheap ingredients cooked with out any great care is where the main problems are. They charge well above the quality of the food.

An enjoyable meal with a nice ambience, but the prices were a bit excessive. Good host and service.

“Great Italian food”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

We stopped in here with for dinner on a Sunday evening. Our first visit here since its previous life as the Brick Oven which we liked.

Proper Italian staff which is always a good sign.
I ordered the bruschetta for starter which was really good. 2 large chunks of fresh warm bread with plenty of fresh chopped tomatos and herbs.

Both mains were pasta dishes and tasted really good.
House wine was good also.

Price was reasonable for early bird.

Would recommend this restaurant to locals and anyone visiting Cork. We will be back for sure.
