Owner description: University College Cork is one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities. It boasts a vibrant, modern campus with a student experience second to none in Ireland. A learning community where the student is at the heart of everything and the special relationship between student and lecturer is primary to our unique ethos. The campus is located a mere ten minutes walk from the heart of Cork city, a former European Capital of Culture. Cork is listed as a top ten location in the Lonely Planet guide which states it “has always had an unshakeable self-confidence and innate sense of pride”, a description which is equally applicable to the University itself

“Stunning University.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This university college is a true gem in Cork City. Such a stunning campus, built circa 1845. Fantastic quad buildings and grass so green its the perfect postcard of Cork City. Loved walking throught the quad buildings , felt very at peace here and very cultured! Such a beautiful, beautiful campus and the new buildings have really combined well with the older buildings, making it an excellent place to visit. Lot to see and do here, and even to get a nice bit of lunch!! Loved it and will go again and again!!

“Can you believe a chapel closed on Sunday???”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We wanted to see the Honan Chapel and the inlays on the floor. We were there on a Sunday and thought that there may have been services a bit earlier and it would still be open We were there around 11:00 a.m. But no, chains and masterlocks on the gates and no way in NOR any information about who to contact about getting in at any time. Some students told us they had never seen it open. What a shame!

Thanks for your review. While we regret you had a negative experience, having checked with our Chaplaincy Office here in UCC, they relay that 'chains' are not put on the gates and that in fact the Honan Chapel has regular opening hours for most of the year. Please do visit again in the near future to enjoy one of Cork's favourite landmarks! Kind regards from UCC.

“Ogham stones!”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

UCC was not on our original list of places to visit, but our B&B host suggested we stroll over to visit their hall of Ogham stones. So glad we did! It was a wonderful exhibit! The largest grouping of stones I've ever heard of, much less seen in person. And it was completely free! We saw a sign that there was an office we could have visited for more information, but we were early morning visitors, and the office was not yet open.

We also stopped by at the lovely chapel. Beautiful stained glass windows and mosaic floor. Really lovely!

Our entire visit was under an hour, but I'm so glad we added this to our trip.
