“Surprisingly great:)”
Reviewed August 6, 2010

We went to the Ambassador some years ago and didn't think it was up to much frankly.
They have pulled up their socks since then though - big time.
The staff were, without exception, friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was one of the newly renovated ones (perhaps one should ask specifically for this when booking actually) and was really gorgeous - very very spacious, junior suite size really, huge bathroom, huge comfortable bed, flat screen tv, free standing mahogony wardrobe, proper hairdryer, not one of those irritating cream ones on a phone wire that you have to keep your finger pushed down on - you know the ones right? ugh...
We didn't have the breakfast, but I heard from others in our party that the food was good so all in all I recommend.
Good price too:)

We stayed one night in the Ambassador Hotel on a trip to Cork to see Daniel O'Donnell in the Cork Opera House. We were lucky as we had a big room in the front with a balcony and great views. Although a hilly area it was about 10 minutes walk to the Opera House which was a great plus.
I think the breakfast presentation and choice could be improved on but the staff were helpful and service were very good. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a fine size.
We had planned on staying two nights but had to return home early and were very disappointed about this.
We really enjoyed the show and our stay and will definitely be returning.

My husband, two young children, and I stayed in the Ambassador for one night en route to a wedding in west Cork. We arrived after midnight but were greeted with a warm welcome from the receptionist, who brought us to our room. We were a little unsure about the hotel when we booked it (as it was cheaper than most other Cork hotels), but we were very impressed. While the room was not luxurious, it was very comfortable, with high ceilings and a two huge windows, one of which led to the huge balcony. The room was huge--even with a double bed, a single bed, and a baby cot, we still had lots of room. We had fabulous views over all of Cork city, the beds were done with crisp white linen and were very comfortable. There was a wedding raging below but we didn't hear a thing, even with the windows open. Breakfast was nothing impressive, but had all the usual trimmings.
