“Best guest house ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

We had the best experience of Cork hospitality. Margaret and her staff were fantastic, pleasant and efficient. We just loved it and will certainly return. Margaret thank you for everything you really are the hostess with the mostest. Patricia and Gary Roberts and family, Belfast co Antrim..

Room Tip: If you have a problem with mobility choose a lower floor room.

This is a very comfortable B&B with truly lovely staff, and a genuine Irish welcome. It's almost opposite the University of Cork campus (lovely walk through the grounds) and less than10 minutes walk to the centre of town.
We came with friends, they stayed for 2 nights, while we stayed for 4; both our rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean and given the unusually hot weather having fresh sheets each night was a welcome treat. We both had ensuites in our rooms (not all rooms do, some share) and though the ensuites are small (they have a sliding folding door to save space) there is everything you need and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water (takes a few minutes for the hot water to come through on the first shower). If in the front bedroom, with the windows open there is some road noise (fine with closed window) and as it is a well built older building the walls are quite thick and the rooms and stairs are thickly carpeted so quite quiet.
None of us had ever been to Cork before, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - our welcome couldn't have been warmer and we were very sorry to leave.

This was our first trip to Cork and we couldn't have found a better place to stay. Ideal location and close to town centre. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The full irish breakfast will set you up for the day. The lady who ran the guest house was so friendly and helpful, she made us feel so welcome. We can highly recommend this hotel.

Friendly staff who could not have been more helpful.
The room was not large but spotless and comfortable, and the bed freshly made each day.
We also loved the breakfast and the good variely provided.

We stayed 3 nights and hope to return again next year!.

We had read the reviews before selecting this B&B and we were a bit disappointed when we got there. It is clean but a little outdated with the carpets etc. The room was very small with a sliding/folding door to the en suite. The en-suite had no shower door or curtain which was also poor. The worse was to come at breakfast time when I found a 2 inch black hair under my fried egg. The server took the breakfast back and apologised but no one else came to the table. The lady of the house hadn't been informed either and the first she heard of it was when i was checking out. Upon discovery of the upset she gave me back the value of €9 for my breakfast. I thought €97 for 2 people B&B was expensive for what this facility has to offer.

Stayed two nights here and we were delighted with the room, the friendly staff, the location AND the great free secure parking. Bus stop to the city is just outside the door and its really just a short stroll away if you are feeling energetic. Breakfast was fantastic and everyone here seemed to be smiling all of the time. The room was spotless when we arrived and was kept that way during our stay. We were given directions to two great restaurants nearby and had a really fantastic city break. We will certainly be back.

We stayed in Crawford House next door to the guesthouse. It was good location for catching the bus in to town. The room was really comfortable, the bed was made every day we were there & it was cleaned too. We really enjoyed the breakfast, one of the best we've ever eaten. Plenty of car parking at the rear of the guesthouse. The staff were really friendly and Margaret was delightful. We would definitely recommend it for a short or long stay & will be returning in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building would be quieter as the one we stayed in was on the main road and...
