The service was excellent and Margaret and her staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much of a problem for them and they were very obliging. The breakfasts were marvellous and fresh and tasty. The freshly cooked scones were delicious.

The room was very comfortable, but the bathroom was in need of a facelift. Unfortunately the jacussi was not working and the shower pressure was poor. The room above our bedroom had some noisy guests in the nights. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and vey handy for the City Centre and with ample free car parking.

We would recommend it and go again.

Room Tip: Check before booking.

We found the killarney guest house perfect for our stay in Cork. It is conveniently situated to both UCC and the city centre. The room was warm, clean and comfortable. The staff friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to leave our car parked in the very safe and secure carpark for a number of hours after we had checked out. We would recommend this guest house and would stay again in the future

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

Positives first: pleasant staff, good breakfast. Not so positives: we had to travel at short notice due to a close friend's critical illness. This room was booked as part of a Ryan Air flight and hotel package. Having spent a few minutes looking at options we chose this, based on the photos of reasonably modern decor and furnishings and a 4 star rating. However, when we arrived, the room we were given was tired and very dated. It was medium/small with a large crack in the window pane and many built in wardrobes, one of which was the bathroom. The door could not open fully as the bed was in the way, The toilet was hard to flush. The shower worked well but was spoiled by damp/mould patches on the ceiling and walls. Anyone overweight would have found it difficult to manouevre within the limited space. The whole feel of the room and bathroom was very much that it had not been altered since the 1980s. We felt that for 52 euros a night PLUS 9 euros each for breakfast, this was quite expensive. Unfortunately, because we were on a sad visit, we did not take up these matters with the owner/staff. Our friend was given a very pleasant room in Crawford House, next door, but only after complaining that the flat she had been put in (4 doors down the road) was isolated, lonely and creepy. Just be warned that the rooms are variable and you may get a 'duff one' if you don't speak up.

Room Tip: Ask for what is shown in website pictures, don't be afraid to ask for better.

The room was cold. The hot water took 10 minutes to heat up. The guest house has lowered it's standard and I would not recommend this accomodation again to anyone.

i recently stayed in cork, but while it wasnt in the killarney guest house this time, whilst there i did visited margaret the owner, and i must say no matter how far i travel and my husband agrees with me the hospitality we received from her no one will ever be as kind and generous and welcoming as this lady and her staff, we cant thank her enough for her kindness. we have stayed several times in the killarney guest house and have every intention of going back to stay there...the rooms are spotless, the staff cant do enough for you and the breakfast is like no other . so i would recommend this guest house to anyone thinking in stopping in cork and looking for somewhere to stay. Margaret thankyou from kathleen and mark.

For the price this is a great b&b, not far from the town centre and with very friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast offered plenty of choice for a reasonable price (the pancakes were lovely)
The room was large and had more wardrobes than I could ever possibly use. The bathroom was small but adequate.
