Stayed Friday & Saturday night got a good deal including 1 dinner through their own site.
Staff were very helpful and polite - breakfast was excellent with good standard of food and great selection. Tip : Dont wait until 10-45am on a Sunday morning for breakfast as it can get very busy - there was a wedding on Sat but no noise or disruption caused and apart from a queue on Sunday for late arrivals for breakfast no problems.
The gentleman in charge of Zings was very efficent - very polite and very professional -
we ate there on Saturday night and he made an effort to chat to us about our day and explained the menu options - he also remembered my name on Sunday which I thought was a real mark of a professional.
Used the pool and steam room on Sunday again the staff were very freindly and helpful and the facilities are very good.
A very good standard of hotel - obviously popular with ladies who lunch and meet - the public areas are very niceand they semed to welcome the use of laptops - free wi-fi throughout.
Baeutiful grounds and a lovely facade.
Its a good 10/15 minute walk into Douglas - which is a very nice village/suburb of Cork but well worth it some lovely pubs and restaurants - try Eco very good for a meal but book ahead!!

Stayed for 3 night break to extend husband's business trip nearby. Hotel is just outside Cork, off the Southern Ring Road so convenient for sightseeing (car is a must). Nice quiet location in wooded gardens with free parking. The reception area is in the old house, and whilst is has been given a designer makeover it is a bit down-at-heel however the main part of the hotel is a modern extension and much better. Again it has had a makeover and is quite "trendy" but still cosy.

The bar area is nice, and (off season at least) doubles as the restaurant during the week (Mon-Thurs). There are only a few tables though, which are partly screened off with curtains (nicer than it sounds!). A lot of people were eating more casually in easy chairs/sofas and coffee tables. This was busy during the day as well, seemed like a meeting place for locals/business people/ladies-that-lunch etc and ensured a good atmosphere.

Our room was nice, huge bed (two singles together) although VERY hard!. Also a seating area with a trendy sofa and coffee table facing the flat-screen TV. It was very hot in the room, we couldn't adjust the heating (we were lucky with mild weather) so had the door (to a juliette balcony) open 24/7.

The Espa spa was lovely, Although as others have said the "Thermal Suite" which you use before treatments is totally separate into male and female. The female one had "Laconium" (warm room) and a sauna and a small pool with water massage jets etc. It was lovely and relaxing but a bit lonely on your own! Would be great for a girly holiday. The main hotel pool (which has another sauna and steam room) is totally separate from the spa so if you want to use both you have to get dressed and go upstairs to the pool. Spa treatments seem high quality, but top-end pricing.

All the staff in the hotel were lovely and friendly. We had a good time here, and I'm hoping my husband has to go back on business again so I can visit again!

Weekend stay at Maryborough - standout throughout the stay from every member of staff was the quality of service from hotel staff. Every single member of staff was professional, pleasant and polite, clearly something the hotel have put a lot of effort into.

Nice atmosphere at bar and restaurant (enjoyed meal), and the spa and pool were very clean, with good facilities.

Very convenient location for Cork city, or if travelling to west Cork.

My first experience of Maryborough Hotel was my sons Wedding in 2008. It was an affair to remember. All the family and friends spent an unforgettable weekend. The bedrooms are luxurious. The Restaurant offers a .delicious menu, staff are efficient, friendly and try to facilitate everyone. I made my return visit this weekend and was not disappointed. The hospitality, service and comfort was second to none.My only negative is that it was not a longer stay.

The staff hadn't record of our booking & made a big deal out of sorting a reservation for us (even though the room was available without issue). They seemed to be very concerned about getting our details for security reasons & yet didn't pay attention when we'd answered their questions - as a result we were asked our names three or four times! Bar service was understaffed and they didn't have a good strategy for dealing with customers in order of their arrival to the bar - very frustrating & slow service as a result. Everywhere in the hotel seemed to be very hot! Rooms were stuffy & uncomfortable. Disappointing as the rooms looked nice & were of a good size with a nice bathroom (liked the idea of a seat in the shower! But shower temperature was a bit lukewarm & pressure too low). Food in restaurant was just not up to scratch - 2 star at best but restauarant staff were pleasant & helpful - breakfast menu was good & varied choice (standard grand but a cooked breakfast is hard to get wrong). This hotel has the potential to "pull up its socks" & earn the 4 star rating...the setting is nice (pity the rest of hotel isn't as nice a style as the front reception but it's not bad), the location is good & handy to cork city. The staff needs to be a little more consistent in their service standard, the heating system needs to be sorted (in rooms & restaurant), the bar staff need better training & the standard of food served needs a major overhaul! If I were staying again I certainly wouldn't eat in the hotel's restaurant. I think at it's current offering this hotel is closer to 3 star.
