“Excellent hotel with very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2011

I stayed with my partner last weekend as we were attending my friends wedding. It was ideal for a wedding, the beautiful gardens and the dome made it a perfect venue. If you are planning a wedding it is definetly worth a visit, it is just stunning.
On arrival we were told we had received an upgrade to one of the spa rooms. The room was spotless and it was in a very quiet area of the hotel. These rooms are very modern and different to your normal room, we loved them.
We didnt eat in the restaurant so i can't comment but the quality of food at the wedding was excellent.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. Even with everyone checking in at the same time the reception staff still managed to give us their undivided attention. They made us feel really welcome and were extremely friendly.

We had a fantastic easter family break here and I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. The staff are wonderful and very friendly and helpful. We had interconnecting rooms which worked out really well. Our 3 kids felt like they were lords of the manor and we had loads of space to ourselves. The staff dropped some cookies into the room for the kids and they were delighted. The facilities are great , magnificent gardens where we could sit out and have a drink or coffee and read the papers while the kids could explore. The pet farm was a huge hit and they loved the way you could get close to the animals and cuddle the rabbits! It was a great base for day trips and we went into Cork, Kinsale , Incydoney and Fota. The hotel organised a packed lunch for us for one of our trips and also booked local horse riding for us which all our kids loved - even the 3 year old! The pool and spa area was also great and I managed to get a little time in the Espa which was just heavenly. This hotel is a real find and ticks all the boxes for a super family break.

Room Tip: The interconnecting rooms are great for families.

I spent time at the Maryborough while in Cork on a short trip around the South of Ireland with my girlfriend on the advice of a friend. We found the whole experience absolutely excellent.

Our room was spacious with a comfortable king-size bed and a lovely view of the garden. Staff were really helpful with assistance in arranging things to do around Cork and with anything else we needed including arranging a late check-out.

The fitness centre is top-notch with great facilities and a supportive atmosphere, a joy to work out in and the instructors were helpful without being intrusive.

The most impressive part of our stay was the spa, we spent time in the thermal suites (seperate for men and women) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, it was so relaxing and I felt like a new man afterwards. The spa staff were incredibly helpful and the massage we had was superb.

We didn't dine in the restaurant but the food in the bar was very good.

My one gripe, and it is just a small one, would be the selection at the breakfast buffet, the meats and cheeses were severely limited as was the selection of fruit and cereals.

Would absolutely recommend the Maryborough to anyone.

I stayed to go to the it@cork conference. Was booked into an executive room, and it was pleasant, well decorated. Wifi across the hotel - excellent!
What struck me when I arrived was the kids - running wild all over the hotel. I checked in at 4:30 and went to my bedroom at 9pm - the whole time - kids where running up and down stairs, and generally having a great time.. but when u are trying to have business meetings or even dinner - it was irritating.
Went down for dinner in the bar - which was fine. Ordered the vegetarian curry - and it should be described as the Broccoli and Green bean curry! When I told the waitress this, she immediately offered a free glass of wine. Had a cheese plate - which was lovely!
The staff are great! from checkin, to the restaurant.. big asset!
Would i go back - Yes as a leisure traveler - but not on business!

Attended a friends wedding here recently and the staff were very obliging arranging an early check in as we were travelling.
Hotel was charming in beautiful mature grounds - but blended quite nicely with a modern lounge bar area and spa 'wing'. We had a room on the ground from of the spa part and it was really nicely decorated in a boutique style, with a high bed, lovely bathroom and semi private terrace with table and chairs....
The wedding was well managed, with drinks and canapes served in a gorgeous marquee in the grounds, then dinner food service for the guests was slick and the food was lovely.
Breakfast was good with a nice choice including traditional irish breakfast, pancakes etc... as well as buffet and very welcome pot of coffee.

Lounge area was really comfy with large soft sofas with views over the gardens.

We had lunch before we left and although just a 'sandwich' it was really tasty and well presented.

We found all the staff incredibly friendly and helpful and they couldn't do enough for you.

Was about 20 minutes drive from Cork City Centre and easily accessible from Cork AIrport.

Highly recommended and good value for the service and surroundings - nice mix of modern and traditional.

Room Tip: Ask for a spa room - quiet & stylish!
