My friends and I meet every Thursday for lunch to catch up and have a good natter, The South County is our haven and we call it our Holy Hour. Not even the husbands will phone us during this time. The food is top class and the staff are so friendly and welcoming, Its always clean and the facilities spotless. This is one day in the week we really look forward to and we wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. We have all we need in the South County. Keep up the amazing work guys, see you next thursday. Was lucky to be a guest at a family christining on Sat 8thDec & the after drink was held in the South County. The Baby's head was successfully wet with the help of the pubs magnificent staff who catered for all the guests needs with ease & professional courtesy. In my time of traveling and visiting pubs all over the world the South County is now ranked as my new number one. The pubs beer garden in December with its 2 TVs & believe it or not an open blazing fireplace is better than most pubs this time of the year.

Big thanks to all the staff on the day

We were invited in this pub to celebrate a christening and stayed a little afterwards.
This pub is extremely popular for a reason. Very very clean pub and extremely friendly staff where you get a good point. Tables ate kept clean all the time. The guests are mixed from young to old. Everybody is conformable and due to the way the bar is set up the South county feels like 5 pubs in one large house. Will definitely be back!

A family owned and run bar always has a certain tone, one that reflects the personality of the people behind it. The County is the only bar in Douglas village that does not need to put bouncers at the door. That says it all really. Guaranteed lovely atmosphere, split level, great on match days, loads of nooks and crannies for smaller groups, loads of space, large outdoor smoking area, all round a great pub. Richly deserves its popularity.

On a recent break in Cork my husband and I, in search of lunch, wandered by chance into this lovely comfortable pub/cafe. My husband is coeliac and was delighted to be served with excellent gluten free bread and a huge coeliac friendly salad. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. We were sorry we didn't live nearer so we could avail of this pleasure on a regular basis. How fantastic to have gluten free options so freely available. Other food establishments please take note!
