Stayed here for one night, and it was exactly what we wanted. Very central, just a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and bars. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, bar in the hotel was nice too. The room was a little dated but it was spotless and had a large comfortable bed. Only slight inconvenience is the lack of parking (you park in a carpark a couple of minutes away), but very few city center hotels have parking!

2 couples spent a two night break in the Imperial- absolutely fabulous everything from the accommodation, the service, the food, the staff, the central location and of course the building. We would definitely recommend the hotel for these reasons

Room Tip: Rooms on the South Mall can be noisy from outside traffic

We arrived at this hotel and received a really nice welcome at reception. We were informed that our room would be another 20 mins, so we slipped into the bar for a quick drink to wait. The bar is fine, nothing special, the staff were a little aloof, no smile, no welcome and it was expensive for what we ordered.
We went to our room which was small ish in size, but was really clean and had a large bathroom. We didn't eat breakfast, lunch or dinner, but had a lovely coffee in the cafe were the staff were nice and the coffee really nice and reasonably priced, We gave the bar a second chance pre meal reservation, but again, a cold service was given.
I would recommend a for fish lovers a restaurant called Electric - outside the hotel, take a right and the top of the road, it was excellent and reasonable, I would also recommend Arthur Maynes (Chemist) wine bar, outside the hotel take a left and a left again, great staff and nice wines.
On the whole, we enjoyed the hotel although we really just slept here, it is probably the best hotel in cork with respect to situation, it is in the heart of the city and in a nice part of town, close to shopping and nightlife, I would definitely recommend it.

Dear shields 77,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Imperial Hotel during your recent trip to Cork and indeed for taking the time to write a review on trip advisor.

I will take on board your comments regarding the bar staff in South's Bar and investigagte the situation. This is a little upsetting as they are generally a friendly happy team with good friendly interation with the customers.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Anne

I stayed in the Imperial lately and it was really nice. Very comfortable beds, clean room and helpful staff. The spa is amazing-one of the best I've ever been in. I would stay here again. The rooms are noisy if your not used to traffic, etc but it is a city centre hotel so take this into account when booking.

We stayed at the Imperial for one night in July 2014. The room was absolutely boiling hot despite the outside temp being in the range of 18-22 degrees. The heat wasn't on but we had a room that overlooked the internal "courtyard", which was very industrial and had the fans etc for the kitchens/air conditioning units. The pigeons had also set-up shop here and as we had to sleep with the window open due to the heat, we had the double whammy of pigeons and fan noise. On top of that, there is a nightclub nearby and whilst I didn't hear them, my girlfriend was kept awake by people leaving at 2am.

Aside from the noise and the heat, the room was pleasant albeit nothing special. I think some complimentary water & ear plugs would have been welcome.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that is not internal facing...

Dear Boru1980,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at the Imperial Hotel.

I appologise if you found your room very warm but as you are aware we are currently experiencing very warm humid conditions in Ireland at the moment.

I will see what we can do to address the issue of the pigeons.

Thank you for your comments and we hope to welcome you back to the Imperial Hotel on some future ocassion.

Kind regards,
Anne

we visited this hotel for two nights i must say i was so looking forward to it and it was recommended by a friend . on arrival the car park is a fair walk so was a bit of a struggle with bags etc . to be honest the rooms are not spectacular especially for the price they are charging no air conditioning and the room was roasting!!! view from hotel was onto a building site and noisy enough!. we had dinner booked with the package for the hotel by any means please do not buy into this package its not worth the money go eat in another restaurant the menu is very limited my partner got a steak (sirloin) they charge a 5 euro supplement which is fine but we didnt get what we asked for they brought down the steak and said the chips will be a few mins and then didnt actually bring them down at all waiter didnt seem too bothered when we said it either but in all fairness when i said it to the manager they didnt charge us the supplement and gave us a free drink but the whole meal honestly not great and we were talking to other people also and they said the same. in a nutshell for what the imperial hotel charges and what you get is not great by any means they are over charging people which is not fair considering people are watching the pennys theses days . its a good location and the spa is amazing i would recommend trying out the spa but you dont need to stay in the hotel to go to the spa. a lovely restaurant around the corner on the right of the hotel is called il padrinos italian restaurant real italia and we didnt have a reservation and they still seated us even though they were really busy lovely food great ambiance would reccommend it and not over pricy .

Dear edelgg,

Thank you for your recent review and for choosing to stay with us at the Imperial Hotel.

I sincerely apologise if you felt that the food and the level of service in the Pembroke restaurant fell below your expecations. This is not the standard that one would expect at the Imperial Hotel and on this occasion we can only appologise for our short commings.

As a family owned Irish hotel we appreciaite more than anyone the need to offer value without comprisiming on standards.

We really appreciaite your feedback and will actively take your comments on board.

Kind regards,
Anne
