“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

We stayed here mid September and it was lovely. John and his wife were so kind and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and charmingly decorated. We loved having breakfast in the sun room, and the breakfast itself was great. John gave us great recommendations for dinner and things to see. I would highly recommend Glencairn as a welcoming, comfortable base to explore such a beautiful part of Ireland.

The place is surrounded by flowers, the rooms cozy and with individual character. The hosts are relaxed, welcoming and helpful. Just outside Cork but can easily be reached by bus or bike. Good starting point for a trip to Cove and Barryscourt Castle.

Our hosts were so very very friendly - just loved this beautiful place. They made us feel right at home. They had such a lovely home and we felt as if we were friends. The garden was so lovely. Would highly recommend staying here. Just loved the place.

We stayed here for one night as we needed someplace in the Cork area to rest after making the local rounds. Pros: Sociable host who is extremely helpful in planning places to visit and how to get there; fairly easy to get to. Cons: The rooms are very small, bordering on cramped. If you are into quaint and cute, go for it. If you don't relish dragging your suitcases up a not-to-code stairway, look for something bigger.

The thing that sets this particular B&B apart is John, an ex-pat from Michigan who married an Irish lady and never went back. He is very helpful and a kind host. Just dial back your luxury expectations as you are staying in someone's home.

A good choice for decent value and a great host.

On the first morning, we all felt already very much relaxed. Helen and John are wonderful persons with lots of sensitivity. Our children love them, although we did not spend much time together, due to our long day-tours. The rooms were clean and beds are comfortable. We got useful tips for our tours and uncomplicated assistance, when we needed to find a dentist. We enjoyed our stay and their company very much.
Thank you, Helen and John!

This was one my favorite B & B's in Ireland! You couldn't ask for better hosts! Excellent customer service. The room was neat, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and very cute (you'll have to stay there to find out). The beds were very comfortable. The view from the room was gorgeous!

As a horticulture student, I have to say John and Helen's garden was absolutely amazing! This was one of my favorite gardens in Ireland.

John & Helen...I hope to see you in the future! You made my first trip to Ireland unforgettable!

Hugs,

Danielle, Mary, & Carly

What a lovely treasure this B & B is. John & Helen are the nicest people and made you feel very much at home. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. They are both very knowable about the local area and gave us some great tips on what to visit and in what order so as to utilise our time as efficiently as possible. They serve a great breakfast ,caters to all tastes. The garden was beautiful to have a early morning wander in. Helen was very knowable about the plants and gave some great tips for my garden. Would highly recommend this place to anyone for a enjoyable stay.
