A little off the beaten track you will find this preserve with two choices of walks and neither are too taxing. Many choose to run here but if you do have the right footware. The preserve surrounds Dromore lake which is a beautiful area and there are many picnic benches on which to enjoy a packed lunch.

We went to dromore yesterday and the kids splashed in the lake to cool down on a scorching hot day. Some lucky people have boats and kayaks to go out on the lake. Usually we go walking there and there are trails to suit every ability. There is a little information hut with a nature museum. i love to go there a few times during the year and watch the trees change with the seasons.

Took the family here for a picnic one sunny Sunday recently and we had a great time. We found a picnic table just off the car park and enjoyed our food there. Later we went on a short walk down to the lake where the kids enjoyed seeing wild flowers and birds etc along the way. The place is full of singing Blackcaps. On a previous trip a few years during the month of July I was amazed at all the butterflies I saw there. We enjoyed our venture into nature and it was all absolutely free! We'll be back!

Taking a break from our search for a cottage to rent and a car to buy, we visited Dromore Woods for a bit of exercise for ourselves and the dog. There are so few woods to walk thru in this part of Ireland, it felt good to do the walk, but hardly like a trail in the NH woods I'm used to. Wide, flat path is suitable for all ages. A stroller would work fine. Very much an Irish landscape: the thick moss on rocks and tree trunks just cries wood sprites.
