Thank you Declan and Bernie for sharing your wonderful home with us. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay from the supersize shower with heaps of hot water, to the absolutely delicious breakfasts. It was our only stay which served yummy berries for our cereal.
Your family history expertise was an added bonus Declan as we are experienced researchers but still learnt heaps from you. We would highly recommend this B&B.

This family owned mansion is the perfect place to stay in Ennis. We stopped by for one night as we were flying out of Shannon, and I wish we could have stayed longer! It is quiet, charming, and run by the best hosts. We stayed at a lot of places during our two weeks in Ireland, and this was the best one! We could have not asked for a better B&B and will come back again. Thanks Declan and Bernie!

As we drove into modern Ennis, we were thrilled to make the turn into the Newpark house drive. Suddenly, we were transported to a different time. The house seems like the setting for a Merchant Ivory film. The house is charming, located on acres of lawn and wooded property. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The public rooms, including a library, are filled with books about the area, period furniture, and family photos. One member of our party said, "it's like staying with a grand-aunt." Given the sense of seclusion, you may forget you are in the middle of town. However, we were just a short walk from the local pub, where we had dinner. Breakfast was delicious. Fresh berries, eggs, sausages, and a variety of other offerings made this a scrumptious start to our day. If you're looking for a modern hotel, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for charm, an historic feel, a warm welcome, good food, and comfort, this is definitely the place to stay while visiting the west coast of Ireland.

Declan's NewPark House, a family owned mansion since 1904, was an amazing place to stay. The house has 22 rooms but six have become bedrooms and form the B&B. My wife Barbara and I had the best time there. Declan was warm and inviting. The house has period furniture and sits on many acres of propery. It is quiet and charming. The room we stayed in was pretty large and had a small deck balcony. Breakfast was served at a very large table; the china was gorgeous and the table was beautiful. The house if filled with history books as Declan is a historian. The house was built in the mid 1700's and looks like an old castle! it is dripping with ivy, and feels like a place one might see Heathcliff of Wuthering Heights fame! It was the coolest place we stayed at during our two weeks in Ireland. The breakfast was great.

So enjoyed the two nights we stayed in this charming home. Our room was lovely. Comfortable canopied bed. Sparkling cleanbathroom (entire home was immaculate) and plenty of hot water. Quiet, parklike setting but a quick walk down the tree lined driveway and you are within walking distance of a pub. A few minutes drive to the town of Ennis.
The family was so kind and helpful. We had experienced car trouble and they were right there to offer help. Very friendly. Delicious breakfast served in a beautiful dining room on old English china. All of this overlooks a beautiful outdoor setting.
The home has a beautiful sitting room, Library and elegant winding staircase. Gorgeous antiques and carpets. Felt like we were in a castle.

Room Tip: Can't imagine there would be a "bad" room!

Really enjoyed our stay at this very gorgeous house! Great base for doing the Cliffs of Moher. I really enjoyed the balcony off my room and the rustic wooded surroundings.
