We have just come back from a break in Ennis staying in the Temple Gate Hotel. We stayed in an executive room on the 3rd floor which was really modern, stylish and clean. We had a package deal which included dinner in the bistro which was delicious. Even better I thought was the food in Preachers Pub which was amazing. portion size was hugh. The staff were really friendly and helpful and there is generally a lovely warm atmosphere about the hotel. It is centrally located just a few minutes from Ennis itself and by car close by to the main attractions in Count Clare - Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Caves. We got a Burren4 ticket, you can Google it online and it saves a lot of money. It is €18 for 4 of the main attractions, the ticket can be used over a 7 day period. If you go to Ennis stay in Temple Gate it was really wonderful.

Ennis is a lovely town and well situated for visiting the Burren and the western coastal area. It is also a great town if you are looking for trad music. We had a delightful time there during the recent Fleadh Nua this May and stayed at Temple Gate. The hotel's car park is in the rear and from there the hotel looks unimpressive so we were initially a bit worried but it is actually a beautiful hotel and the rooms were quite comfortable and clean. The location is perfect - If you go out the side door you are right in the middle of city centre but the hotel is set back from the main street so we had no problem with noise. Our room rate did not include breakfast and we never ate in the restaurant so I cannot evaluate the food but the restaurant did come well recommended from people who live in the area.

We had a minor problem with our room charge but our concern was taken seriously and quickly resolved and I am quite impressed with the customer service we received in resolving our complaint. I can highly recommend a visit to Ennis with a stay at Temple Gate.

We stayed here accidentally as our plane was delayed in landing at Shannon. It was night time and we were tired, and the Temple Gate was a gem of a find in a charming town. Firstly, Ennis has a lot to offer, especially if you're arriving into Shannon and want something close to the airport. It was about 20 minutes away. The town has a lively and cozy vibe to it. The hotel, a converted convent, is in the perfect location because while it's in the heart of downtown Ennis, the courtyard set back off of main street prevents it from being noisy like some of the other establishments. Additionally, at every turn this hotel went above and beyond for us and made us feel like we were long awaited guests. LOCATION: Perfect-- we had looked at another hotel on main street and were so glad we didn't stay there-- too noisy. ROOMS: Yes, these were basic and comfortable. It was what we expected at a 3 star hotel. STAFF/SERVICE: A++. We had arrived late, no food available at the pubs except for potato chips, we went back to our hotel bar and the bartender very kindly offered to go back and make us some sandwiches. He exceeded expectations when he came back with the sandwiches, salads and chips-- we were so happy and so appreciative. Likewise, the waitress in the restaurant obliged us when we had overslept and missed the breakfast hours. Lastly, we felt the true hospitality when the proprietor, John Madden, went out of his way to sit down with us, plan out an itinerary for our drive north to Galway, make suggestions for restaurant stops and site seeing. This was on top of the fact that the night before, when he was on his way home, he saw that we needed help navigating from our parking spon on main street to the hotel parking lot (more challenging than you would think). He offered to drive us to our car and then lead us back to the hotel. By the time we got back, the front desk staff had already gotten everything ready so we could go right up to our room with no further delay. When you're travel weary and hungry and in a new town in a foreign country, you couldn't ask for better than the hospitality of the Temple Gate folks.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments following your recent stay. Temple Gate Hotel is the proud recipient of many awards, the most recent being a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. While we are delighted to receive each award bestowed on the hotel, guest feedback, which we graciously welcome, is paramount. We continuously strive to ensure that our guests return to enjoy more of the same time and time again! I have shared you comments with John Madden of which he humbly received. The hotel is quite unique in the hotel industry as it is family owned and managed and we hope our guests view it as a “home from home”. John and the team look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

This hotel is in a fabulous location. It is very close to everything in downtown Ennis. The bellhop was speedy and the reception help was friendly. I was however disappointed in the room for several reasons. Upon arrival, I opened the closet to find the previous guests dirty pantyhose in the cupboard space. The wall around the toilet was in very poor condition and didn't appear to be clean. There was a candy wrapper in the bedding. There were not enough towels (One single bath towel) and there was no shampoo. I also wasn't made aware that the rear entrance would be locked at night so I wasn't prepared after returning from the pub late alone. I happened to be being followed by some drunken men that were harassing me from the pub so it enhanced the danger potential when I unexpectedly discovered it locked.
There was also an aggrivating miscommunication at check out.

The location was so great that I really would consider staying here again if I could be promised that someone would ensure my room was clean this time.

Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback. We welcome all constructive feedback and look at any issues that may surface. In relation to the “good”, I will pass on your kind words to the staff. It is disappointing that some areas did not meet with your expectations. Thank you again for taking the time to write the review. It is most helpful to us to rectify where we have fallen short. I am happy that you will grant us an opportunity in the future to restore your faith in the hotel.

The central location in Ennis is a great bonus, and it is surprisingly quiet for a town centre hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the food is good and plentiful, the rooms are comfortable. What more could you want? Thanks to all at Temple Gate for a lovely weekend.
