My wife and I have been watching Eurovision every year since we first moved to Ireland in 1996. Some experiences, as well as the performances, better than others. This year was one of the better as we settled into the Preachers Pub for 7 hours of viewing over three nights.
The staff was very accommodating in keeping the TV sound at a level we could hear over the normal chatting crowd, that is a rarity for non-sporting events. They also participated with us and the few other watchers in commenting on the show. We felt very comfortable.
Of course the pints were good as well as the desserts we had. We have yet to eat a meal at this pub but are encouraged by what we saw on neighboring tables. We will be back for sure, even before next May's Eurovision.

Preacher's Bar is nothing like your regular hotel bar and has a really nice decor and atmosphere. I have eaten here on a few occasions and have always enjoyed the food. I find it very convenient to meet friends for a chat and there is a very good selection on the menu.
Last night I ate there and had chicken goujons which were delicious while my friend had a club sandwich which was massive.
Overall a very convenient place to eat in the centre of Ennis.

My Wife and I had lunch today the 16th inst in Preachers Pub. The Lunch is self service, with an extensive Carvery Menu. My Wife had Chicken ( which she said was delicious ) and I had Smoked Haddock with a double helping of cabbage - as I have had to cut down on potatoes. The Meal was absolutely succulent - one drawback was the plate was not edible too. I did notice that Paul Madden carried a Lady's meal to her table, with no fuss or bother - an indication of the friendliness and efficiency of a Family owned Hotel. We'll be back. One other bonus is that the Hotel operates a loyalty card system - after 10 main courses, you get one free and their car park is free too. ENJOY

Great large pub inside the Temple Gate Hotel. Super friendly Irish service and family run establishment. I have been to the pub and hotel a few times over the years and they have been consistent with their great service and good food. I am surprised that there are few reviews on this place as I think it has the best carvery lunch on the west coast and was voted best place to eat in CLARE. I would definitely recommend to all that if you are in the area or need a place to stay definitely check the Preachers Pub for some great Irish fair and the Temple Gate for their rooms.
