We stayed here recently. Our room was a good size, tastefully decorated and had garden view. Bathroom also big with bath and separate shower. A word of warning.!....the shower door might stick so leave it ajar or have someone within shouting distance!!
We ate in the Chop and Ale House. Very busy but good atmosphere. Our starters were tasty and well presented. Salmon roulade for me and duck for husband. We both had scampi to follow. It was rather too well cooked and the batter too thick. We weren't very impressed with the salad that accompanied it. Service was good.
Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Helpful and efficient cook and waitress.
So, accommodation and breakfast very nice but evening meal disappointing. Having said that the place was busy...folk being turned away... and lot of choice on the menu so all could be good for you!

We stayed here for 5 nights and did not regret our choice. The staff are very friendly, helpful and go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need.

The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast area is very well-equipped. They have an adjoining restaurant / pub which is very useful. Free WiFi is also provided.

We would stay here again if we are in Edinburgh again.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here! The room was very nicely decorated and the whole hotel felt very clean and fresh. The bedroom was a good size, with a very large double bed. the bathroom too was large with a separate bath and shower cubicle. We found all staff to be very welcoming and friendly. We didn't eat here in the evening, but had a super breakfast with generous portion sizes. The free wifi was handy. Very convenient for visiting Edinburgh as we simply caught the train in from Linlithgow.

Visited the chop and Alehouse for a meal last night. The mains were fair enough, the sausage was excellent. The icecream used for the puddings was tasteless, the meringue was tasteless, the waffles were tasty. Service was ok but nothing to write home about. No one asked how any of our meals were! the lager was excellent, but I can't remember it's name.

Just spent a wonderful night at The Champany Inn, Linlithgow. Our 1/2 bottle of complimentary Champagne was chilling in our room and the member of staff checking us in asked if we would like to enjoy our Champagne outside which we agreed to. Our room was equal to most 4 star hotels decorated with a tartan theme. We booked dinner at The Chop and Ale House we both had Sirloin Steaks which were cut on the bone which we thought was unusual - they were very fatty which was disappointing. Other meals looked good especially the burgers looked home made. Would go back to restaurant but not for a steak - they were also very expensive. Breakfast was very good. Staff were VERY attentive and helpful and couldn't do enough to help - would definitely go back to this small intimate hotel.
