Although the circumstances of our visit to Linlithgow were unfortunate, a family funeral, our short stay at West Port was excellent. Our rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable - Room 7 was particularly nice. We heard no noise from the bar and restaurant and enjoyed a very good sleep.

Without exception, the staff and levels of service were excellent. All incredibly helpful and pleasant.

Breakfast was excellent, as was dinner in the restaurant.

I would definitely stay here again. Great value for money in the centre of Linlithgow.

Thanks so much for your review John, glad you found the room comfortable and enjoyed the food whilst you stayed and really pleased to hear about the service that you experienced as we have put a lot of time into our staff training programme. Hope we see you back again in the future but under better circumstances next time, thanks again

We stayed at the West Port overnight on our way to Edinburgh zoo. Four adults and a baby. The customer service was excellent. All the staff were genuinely helpful and thoughtful. The restaurant was lovely and very comfortable, serving tasty food. The rooms were also very comfortable. We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at the West Port and highly recommend a stay here and the restaurant.

Had lunch in here last week, staff friendly and not over the top price wise, I had the fish and chips and my wife had steak pie and chips, with 2 glasses of wine, a Pironi and a pint of real ale it came to about £36. Didnt think it was bad value at all. The food was tasty and really I couldnt fault it.

We stayed overnight on Sunday 20th October 2013 in a 'double bedroom' at a cost of £40 for the night including breakfast. We arrived at 8 pm. The town of Linlithgow is basically one main street so the hotel was easy to find. There is a large free car park to the rear of the hotel with plenty of room to park no matter what size your vehicle is.

Upon entering the West Port you cannot but be impressed with the recent refurbishment. The check-in is situated at the bar and the staff throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful.
We were shown to our 'double bedroom' which was small but comfortable with an en-suite. The room was clean and tidy with a TV and coffee making facilities. We stayed in room 6 which was very quiet. We could not hear any noise from the restaurant below or from the street/road outside. We both had a good nights sleep.

We had an evening meal which cost £18 (£9 per person). A pint of lager at the bar cost £3.50. The restaurant was very pleasant to use and the meals were delivered promptly. Later we had a nightcap in the public house situated next door to the West Port. Again this pub was pleasant with friendly staff.

The next morning we again took breakfast in the restaurant assisted by helpful friendly staff. We had been informed that you can take breakfast right up until 11 am.

I have used many hotels throughout England and Scotland and as a trip advisor reviewer I look for faults however I really struggled to find fault with the West Port Hotel. The price of £40 for two people staying in a double en-suite room including breakfast was excellent value for money. The West Port Hotel has recently undergone an impressive refurbishment and the staff were superb, helpful and friendly throughout. The food was also good which all in all made our stay a very pleasant experience.

Having been in several times, I have always found the staff amazingly friendly, efficient and courteous. As our son plays football on Thursday evenings in Linlithgow, there is really no point in going back home so we always pop in for a drink or snack and have always found the food hot, lovely and very reasonably priced. The only feedback I would give is, get cheese knives for the cheeseboards as its quite difficult with a normal butter knife.

Overall this place is a lovely place to visit. I would certainly recommend it!

Many thanks for your comments and thanks for returning to us each week. It really is much better allowing someone else to take care of dinner and giving you a night out at the same time! Thanks too for your comments about the team, they work really hard to try and give the best service they can and it's very pleasing when this is recognised. Hopefully see you on Thursday again!

We have been 3 times since the refurbishment. Once for breakfast with 2 kids in tow; once for lunch and once for dinner on a Friday evening.

Each time the staff have been friendly and attentive and especially accomodating when we had the children with us.

The food is good pub grub. I had fish and chips on Friday and it was the best I have had in a while and at £8.95 not far off the price they are charging in the Golden Chip (chippie) along the road. My husband had ribeye, which was pretty pricey but they did manage to cook it how he likes it (rare).

We will be back very soon I imagine.

Many thanks for your review of your most recent visit to The West Port. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, wow! Glad you have enjoyed the food and the service and thanks for your comments regarding the prices too. We try to offer great value on every dish we serve and we feel our 12oz, hand cut, aged rib eye served with all the sides included, represents a great offer. Our fish, of course, is a real favourite and at that price one of our most popular dishes. Let's hope we see you back in again some time soon.
