Situated on the old bridge, this former coaching house does a range of beers, cider and a good range of whiskies. Food is above average for pub grub, but cooking smells can affect the clientele are if you are not eating.
A suitable stop-off for a shandy when cycling the west Scotland route, but not too many now... :o)

Took 3 children for lunch last week and would choose The Glencairn over any other pub grub !

We arrived just after 12 and within 20 minutes all tables were full to the point people were being asked to either wait or come back. Says a lot about its popularity!

I ordered tuna salad which was a massive plateful of varied veg, tuna, fresh coleslaw, beetroot & pickles and a lovely dressing. Also came with a side serving of fries. Not only did it taste brilliant, the presentation was superb. Something you would expect see in an expensive hotel.

Kids had homemade lasagna with chips and one had macaroni with chips. They had a good size portion for a kids meal and said it was best lasagna they have tasted,
Afterwards we ordered ice cream for the kids and I had choc fudge cake with ice cream. Very sweet and sickly but gorgeous. The added touch of the chef bringing deserts and offering the kids a variety of sauces for their ice cream was a nice touch and its clear to see the chef and the bar staff are proud of their work.

Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The place was clean and cleared regularly. Decor a bit outdated but I think personally that this adds to the "home comforts" feel of the place.

This is a typical pub restaurant, with the lounge having been turned into a dining area.Service was efficient and friendly. It was thursday tea time when we arrived and the place was packed with couples, mums and dads with kids.Decor could do with a bit of an update.Portions were huge really filled your plate.Good value for money, two adults, four kids and six drinks all reasonably priced.Would recommend a visit.
