This is a review solely for food, so don't take into account the location and room etc.

This is the first time we have been back since the refurb. The decor is very nice however it is a bit smaller inside than it used to be. The dining room is very dark in some area's also. Forgot my torch!

We booked a table for 11people and arrived to find three separate tables which were for us. A little nudge to put the tables together would have be easy enough...especially when we booked 2 days prior to our visit.

The food itself was good with no complaints other than it being very average. We hade the "two can dine for £9.99" however the portions seemed a little smaller.

My main gripe was that we arrived at 7.15pm and never left till after 10pm. The courses took an age to arrive and the one poor waitress was serving the whole dining room, albeit maybe only another 2or3 tables other than ourselves. It took at least 5mins for everyone to get served food and by the time we started, it was going from hot to warm.

For a family who used to visit a couple of times a year all the way from Rosneath(45mins away), needless to say we will not be visiting again for some time.

The Dumbuck Hotel. On arrival my first impression was good as the reception area was clean and tidy but also the receptionist was very polite and helpful. The rooms are very clean and tidy and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The restaurant served food of a very good standard and plenty of choice. Throughout my whole stay the staff were just very nice and polite and always had time for a quick chat. I would like to thank Laura and all her staff for making my stay very enjoyable indeed and would certainly recommend the Dumbuck Hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We had gone to the Dumbuck hotel for a meal with some friends.
I knew the hotel had not long been renovated and I was looking forward to try it out.
The restaurant itself was very smart with nice tables and cofortble seats.
We all had a starter which was well presented and tasty. Then it all seemed to go wrong.
Ater our starter we waited about 40mins and the waiter came with our main course but it was not ours. They took them away and it was a further 30mins before our meal arrived. The fish was dryed out and the batter solid as if the base had been sitting on a hotplate. The meat was also overcooked and dry. Very dissapointed.
We did complain for which they apologised.
We will not be back.

I really can't believe the reviews I read about this hotel before I left and how negative lots of them were.

We were greeted by a friendly member of staff and we were checked in easily (Family group of 3 adults - 2 had a Groupon voucher other room booked via hotel.) We were all very impressed with our rooms - one double and one twin. The double room was very large and the twin was also a good size - both were decorated very nicely.

We ate every evening in the hotel restaurant - Food was Fantastic, not one complaint to be made. They offer two dine for £9.99 during the week - you can choose any two mains from the menu for £9.99 (Supplement for the steak and extra toppings on the pizza). We had starters, main course and desserts, bottle of wine and pint of beer - all for just over £60 for the three of us. We also had breakfast each morning which was equally as tasty.

The bar and restaurant both are very nicely decorated.

We totally enjoyed our two night break and wouldn't think twice about returning - was great from start to finish and the staff really made our stay.

Stayed for two nights on a Groupon deal. Clean accommodation in a large, very pleasant room, one of the nicest we've stayed in. Breakfast was OK; didn't eat in the restaurant. We were interested in the" 2-for £9.99" offer but with no info about this in rooms or on the menu itself we decided to eat at the Crown Carvery a few hundred yards down the road (always excellent value and with decent beer).Unfortunately didn't sleep well because of voices well into the early hours from Reception area below our room, followed by music playing from 6.30 am non-stop throughout the day.
