Visited on a Thursday evening. Food nice, however after food asked bar for 3 cocktails. Advised we could not have them for sometime as the barman had to 'write cheques'! Did we want a different drink. Potentially £28+ lost. Didn't see any signs stating no cocktails after certain time
Not enough bar staff on

Stopped in here for lunch after visiting it couple of years ago and the service and staff are first class. Lovely conservatory with comfortable seating. Menu is quite varied but we had exactly the same as last time, the beef chilli with rice, sour cream and tortilla chips. Delicious, well cooked and extremely tasty. A glass of house wine (Sauvignon Blanc) which was very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Dumbarton Rock is certainly worth visiting as is Levengrove Park on the other side of the River Leven. The Clipper is fine as is the Abbotsford on the A82 a mile away and the Glencairn in the centre of town near the bridge over the river is excellent and cheap.
The town centre is best avoided but there is hidden jewel in the hills above the town: it is called Overtoun House and there is a cafe there with fine views and outstanding walks. You can reach it by heading eastbound back to Glasgow on the A82, going through the lights at the Milton junction then heading left up the hill just before the Stonefield restaurant.

there was no standard off service at all from the moment we arrived we had to request our drinks order four times .then the food came an hour later when we finished our meal was very difficult to get someones attention for a drinks order and desert at this point one of our group left .then we tried to pay our bill we asked three separate people for our bill finally he went to the bar and asked again only to be overcharged for two items we had not requested or received was terrible .and to make matters worse and the reason we didn't go to the bar for drinks or desert ourself was the wooden floor was polished that much it was like an ice rink was so dangerous to walk on we had to hold on to each other I am surprised ther was not an accident
