We stayed in this property for 5 nights in April. We arrived in the worst weather to find the log burner on and the cottage so cosy. Christine couldn't have been any more helpful or welcoming.
The location was perfect as we wanted to do a lot of exploring and this was central for everywhere. The cottage didn't lack any amenities and we had everything we needed plus christine had left us a couple of little treats.
We travel often but this was by far my favorite trip away, the Isle of lewis is unbelievable, the callanish stones are well worth visiting but I would highly recommend taking a trip to Harris and the distillery in Tarbert. I can't wait to visit again soon.
Good communication. Turned up late off the Saturday ferry. Easily found and felt immediately at home - fresh flowers, wee goodie pack, everything you could possibly need. Weekend not helped by rain and wind, but you get wet, you get dry, and Lewis is still close to heaven.
A general comment to Saturday selfcatering late arrivers in Lewis and Harris. Bring what you need for Sunday eats. No wee corner shops, no supermarkets, nothing ; bring it, or fast. Cafes with websites that say they're open Sunday lunchtime, aren't, and it can be quite a long drive, worse when you drive back hungry. For Monday's, recommend the roadside van above Luskentyre, best ever burger.
So cosy, log fire, candles, blankets, fresh flowers, loved it! Thanks for a great stay and the wee treat on arrival!
A really nice cottage with a great atmosphere, nice decoration and a comfortable bed. Not everything was in perfect condition, for example the dish washer is missing some bits and pieces, but that didn't really impact our stay. We missed tools for poking in the wood burner. But the views were splendid, and the location is convenient for exploring.
The chalet is well located and attractive. The bed in the downstairs bedroom is very comfy. We were slightly disappointed that the woodburning stove (featured in the pictures of the property) didnt have fuel supplied and unfortunately the garage suggested for us to buy it didnt have any. I should say though that the house was perfectly warm without it.....we were just expecting to be able to use it.
This house is a designer home but with all the homely comforts that you could wish for. A beautiful kitchen with raised dining area; a snug area with a woodburner; decking that looks onto the wilderness on one side and the hills and lakes across the front. The bedrooms are laden with lovely bedding and towels galore. There is plenty of space inside and out. It is a fully-equipped house so you don't need to take anything. There are books on the landing, games in the cupboards, a decent TV, en-suites to both bedrooms and views to marvel at whilst eating at the dining table or sitting out on the decking, or just lolling about in the chairs and watching the wildlife beyond the patio doors. I loved it ~ I will book for much longer next time. The owners are very generous and first class providers.
