Not as old as I had imagined. We had the place to ourselves so were really able to feel the atmosphere. Congratulations to the folk that look after it so carefully

“What a great treat”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Thank goodness I saw the sign in time and pulled off the road and walked to the Mill and Kiln. Very little information about the site, however it more than spoke for itself. An amazing experience of history. Free

“Vikings in Scotland”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

I had seen sites like this in Nfld and labrador so it was fasinating to see the similiarities to those sites in Scotland. It is a testament to the resourcefulness and bravery of the Norse people to populate such remote locations so long ago.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Just a few minutes from the road along an easy path takes you to this reconstructed site. Very easy to imagine a different era and how this place would have operated. Take a torch to see better inside the rather dark buildings. And remember to go ito the lower part of the mill - accessed from round the back and easily missed.
