The road sign says it all - art and coffee. What more to ask for? And The Morven Gallery is very good at both. Well worth visiting.

Driving south from the Butt of Lewis, we came across the Morven Art Gallery by chance – a delightful array of local artists display their wares, from sculptures to photography, paintings to pottery in what I think is a converted steading. The inhouse coffee shop has a delightful array of home baking – highly recommend the carrot cake!!

We brought some relatives to whom we were showing local attractions. I had visited a few years ago and it is still in an attractive and nicely refurbished old building, bright and airy inside. Good selection of local art and no tourist tat.

The coffee shop serves a good variety of teas and coffees with a choice of nice cakes. In general the service is good, from all the female staff, however there is a grumpy man who clearly doesn't believe in customer service. Between entering the cafe for our refreshments and emerging afterwards, the main exhibition area had been stripped bare of paintings and a fresh batch from a different artist was propped in a corner awaiting hanging. One of our group asked aforesaid man about what appeared to be an imminent new exhibition and received a very curt brush-off and no information.

The building has been sympathetically restored. It's bright and airy and the art is nicely displayed throughout. The cafe has a limited but decent range of drinks and cakes.
We liked the art and the cafe so much we went 2 days in a row!

This is a real Gallery with a range of good work by interesting and talented Hebrides artists and artisans (as opposed to a tourist gift shop selling prints etc) it has a friendly helpful staff, including the owners without any pressure to purchase. They also were good at giving recommendations and directions for other places of interest. The atmosphere is enhanced by an integrated coffee shop with homemade cakes. We bought the Ltd edition beautiful photography about Harris tweed, which is going to be treasured as a great memory of our visit. Thank you.

This gallery is housed in a beautiful old dressing building. Has a good range of art, ornaments, jewellery and scarves etc. Coffee and cake too. Well worth a stop on the way up the west coast road!

Lewis has a number of very talented artists, and the standard of the pieces exhibited is high. We would particularly recommend the driftwood art by Donald Libby, who is local to the island. He manages to create beautiful pieces from the random items cast up by the tide.

What a great find. You do not realise it is going to be as interesting as it turned out to be. Some great painting and pictures as well as different sculpures. Certainly could spend a good deal of time here. We had coffees and cake in the cafe area, which wre both great. Spend a good while in here talking to one of the locals getting all the info on places we intended visiting. Great. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpfull, making it a lovely visit overall.
