First impressions ,when you look it up on line ,seems ok ......when you arrive you will be gutted .
Staff are the only good thing about the rob Roy hotel.
Rooms dirty ,hard beds broken dirty sheets no moskito nets at window as you would think this would be a must as it a problem in Scotland.
No air conditng window closed in all of the hotel and you are fronded apon for asking why there not open.
Not what they advertise in there leaflet,
Never book a room here as its miss representation of there advert .
Broken ceiling in dining room dark and boiling hot.

checked in at Rob Roy Friday tea time and checked out sunday morning after breakfast. A most enjoyable weekend . My partner and I found the reception , bar and waitress staff friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and beds comfy with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Some areas of hotel could do with a lick of paint but not off putting as the hotel was clean and had a loved in feel to it. Food , was good on a bargain break of 2 nights dinner & B&B , choice of 3 starters, 4 main course and 3 deserts you would be real fussy not to find an enjoyable meal, we both found it to be of good standard and well presented and service excellent. The situation of this hotel is excellent as there is a path at back of hotel which follows the river and in 10 to 15 mins you are in the centre of Aberfoyle. The road in front of hotel will take you to Callendar , Stirling or the other way Drymen(loch Lommond) and Glasgow. 30 min drive will take you from Aberfoyle to Loch Katrine which is beautiful. Really enjoyed our stay at the Rob Roy and have recommended it to friends and would return again without a question.

Have stayed here before and the rooms were a little tired. Was pleasantly surprised to find that the bathrooms had been totally refurbished and the rooms updated. The food is ok! The pillows are very thin with no spares so a good tip take your own if you can. One downside midges are rife so take plenty of repellant. For the price it's good.

I needed overnight accomodation the night before I did the Rob Roy Challenge. There was myself and a friend and it cost £50 for the night which I thought was great value.
It is an isolated place as others say and the complex is very spread out similar to a motel- but it is also a beautiful area. I don't think the plastic ivy in hanging baskets gave it a good image and it could do with some tidying up.
The hotel was clean and the service was friendly when we arrived. The furniture in the rooms was a mish mash of different vintages however I wasn't intending to live there.
Kettle, drinks in the room ensuite shower and I was able to get some breakfast at 6am which I thought was pretty good including porridge.
If I wanted to go on a weekend I wouldn't have stayed here but for my purpose I thought it was great value for bed and breakfast. It would be ideal for a place to stay for activity weekends or a base. There aren't many places after all where you pay £25 a night and that include breakfast.

Room Tip: I would suggest that you ask when you book. I don't have any mobility issues but we had to walk...

Have stayed here before and experience their excellent value overnight stay with Dinner Dance. Recently popped in for a drink and it would seem that the same high standards have been maintained. A fun hotel and great value.
