We ended our visit to the area with a High Tea before returning home.
The service was great and the food was lovely and great value for money.
I had a nice cold half pint of best in the bar.
As the weather was lovely lots of people were enjoying a drink outside.

Enjoyed an over night stay while visiting The Trossachs N.P. Originally, it seems that the Rob Roy must have started life as a motel and, if you've ever read a Lee Child novel, it's exactly the type of place that Jack Reacher would stay in: a little way out of town, remote, discrete, unassuming, good sight lines, that sort of thing. (Sorry, I digress.)
Anyway, my standard room was fine - very tidy, with loads of storage, both draw- and hanging- space; the (small) bathroom was very clean, showing a few signs of wear 'n tear but nothing to worry about or spoil my stay. Friends had selected a superior room and the extra charge was probably worthwhile.
The hotel seems well frequented by coach parties / tour operators and there were three such tours on the night of our visit, but there are separate dining rooms for groups and for independent travellers. There is a bar with a good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.
The restaurant menu is not extensive and I was surprised by the speed of service, given the numbers of people eating there and in the separate "tour" dining area. They operate some sort of portion control, as I preferred chips to 'seasonal vegetables' with my very tasty beef pie, yet this incurs a charge of almost £2 on top of the fixed price menu, despite the saving on the veggies? Hey, ho but there you go .... it was on the menu and it was my choice.
There is ample parking and there is good 'access all areas' but if there are mobility issues, be aware that the hotel is spread over quite a large area and it's a five minute walk from Reception to the highest numbered rooms - around 230 on the first floor. However, there are small parking areas situated around the site with access to the outer reaches of the empire; but, of course, you still have the walk back to Reception, the restaurants and bar.
The hotel is orientated on a north / south line, so the majority of rooms face east or west: as such, I discovered that sunrise is about 04:54 at this time of year and it's important to close the thick curtains fully. In the wing in which my room was located, it impacts on rooms 201 - 225 but there will be many more with the same outlook, on both floors.
Checking in and departure was handled smoothly.

Room Tip: The hotel is orientated on a north / south line, so the majority of rooms face east or west: as such...

We stayed here last year and booked again on the strength of my own TripAdvisor review.

If anything, the quality of the meals and the room was even better.

My one gripe last time related to the CRT TV in the room, so I was pleased to see a nice flatscreen LCD TV on the wall this year.

I find the hotel, the food and the friendly staff very hard to fault.

If they start serving local real ales on tap, this could be a perfect hotel for me. There are a few great micro breweries nearby that make great beers.

I think it would also be nice if they made more use of the old concrete plinths for the POW huts. They could have log cabins or suchlike on them.

Room Tip: Some rooms are quite far from the main building, where meals are served. If you are older or infirm...

Just spent our second weekend at the rob roy. There was a cher/lady Gaga. Tripute night on the Saturday night. Girl was fantastic! Meal was lovely.good party atmosphere, the dance floor was full all night. A great mix of ages, from a group of girls in their twentys on a hen night to a eighty birthday party. Breakfast was great both mornings. We seem to have got a much nicer room this time, newly decorated, flat screen tv, walk in shower, lovely and warm and spotless. Staff very friendly. We were lucky with the weather again and had some nice walks to the village, and a walk round lake katrine. A fantastic budget hotel, we will definitely be back for another of their great sat entertainment nights.

We stayed here over a long-weekend with a group of Motorcyclists.
It was an organised package with the Hotel, on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis which proved to be fantastic value for money.
When we arrived, we were absolutely soaking wet but when we entered our room it was so warm and welcoming, it was heavenly!
Throughout the weekend, the Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times.
On the Saturday evening, the hotel's resident band played and a good time was had by all.
There is plenty of parking.
The hotel is in close proximity to many attractions.

Room Tip: If you have a special request, ask the hotel.

Paid for upgraded room, don't think we needed to after seeing other rooms which look a good size.
Room clean and cleaned every day we were there (4 nights).
Nice breakfast and a good choice for evening meal plus complementary bottle of wine on first night, 4 nights DBB ~£89. hard to beat.
Staff all very friendly and work hard, seldom had to wait any time in the restaurant, bar staff went missing a few times, all in all hard to be for a cheap break away.

I have spent many weekends here with my line dance group of friends and we always have a great time. The accomodation is great, good sized rooms, clean bathrooms and the food is lovely. The function room can get a bit hot in summer but electric fans soon sorted that out. Plenty of places nearby to visit too.
