“Looks are deceiving...”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

On the outside the Hotel looks smart and a cut above the chains offering business accomadation, however, in fact it leaves much to be desired. Service definately is below par, its not that hard to take an order for a full breakfast without getting the type of egg wrong...and then becoming aggresive when this is pointed out..YES you did get the order wrong !!! Glasgow is famed for its Hard Men, but you don't need that attitude from your waitress!
Room was small, cramped for two, and what on earth is going on with the TV remote control being handed over with your room keys...!
The hotel corridors stinks of ciggie smoke, I thought that was illegal these days ?
Room service, can supply you with any type of hard drink you fancy but won't produce any type of soft drink whatsoever !
Strange place, an experience but not to be repeated.

My wife held a birthday lunch for 35 of her friends and family in the conservatory restaurant on Easter Saturday.

The menu was excellent and varied and good value for money. The food was served efficiently considering the large party and with good humour by the excellent waiting staff.

Although the restaurant was busy with other lunch guests we were well looked after all afternoon.

Many of the guests have since returned for lunch and enjoyed the good food.

Stopped here on business a few times, mainly as the food is great. Lots of choice with an Italian slant. If you don't want a full meal the fresh Pizza in the Bar Milano is very good, washed down with a Peroni.
Hotel is only five minutes off the M74 so is handy and easier to get to that if stopping within Glasgow itself.

Good lunch prices. Varied menu with lots of vegetarian options. Well prepared and tasty with good selection of vegetables and choice of mashed potato, chips, roast potatoes or pasta.

Well-cooked, generous portions, well-served.

Light and airy conservatory setting.

My normal type is the large corporate type of hotel due to the high standards that one can expect.
This hotel appears to be owned by an italian family as there seemed to be a lot of pointing and finger pointing going on between staff!!
Booking in was efficient and polite and trustworthy - no swipe of the card!
As others have said, the key comes with the TV remote, never known a hotel that does this nor evidence of them ever being stolen!
I was in room 6 which is at the rear and nearly opposite the internal adjoining swing door that takes you back into the hotel.
Double room was clean with comfortable bed and pillows, lush towels and a very good shower, I wasn't disappointed.
i didn't sample dinner as we ate out in the town but it appeared to be very busy.
Hotel benefits from a residents lounge as well as an adjoining bar (Milano's) which is very comfortable with flat screen TV's.
I did have a comfortable night, other residents were noisy in the morning though, slamming doors, noising locking and babbling to each other but this is the only note, the hotel itself is very good.
If you are not a fan of the corporate type, then this hotel is for you!!

Room Tip: Rear facing room at either end of the corridor in order to keep the other residents noise to a minim...

Stayed overnight on business - booked at the last minute. I have visited The Avonbridge for dinner & lunch many times over the years but never stayed. I was delighted by the level of service and the standard of the room. The price I paid was the equivalent of a travel lodge but the staff and breakfast were outstanding. My room was freshly decorated with a faint smell of fresh paint. Lots of hot water, comfortable bed and soft furnishings were squeakily new / spotless. I mentioned on checking in that I was going to a function and might need help getting into my dress... not a problem! "Just phone down to reception and one of us will come up and help you". As it turned out, I just needed help with the last wee bit of the zip but Margaret the receptionist was happy to help when I got down there. Breakfast was outstanding... so good that I returned to my room on the Saturday morning and fell asleep until after 11am. Again, the reception staff were outstanding and a lovely friendly phone call reminder from Mary got me roused and ready to check out. All in all, lovely family run hotel - obviously invested heavily in upgrading rooms but still managing to retain that friendly, personal attention

We stayed at the Avonbridge in June of 2013. There was a wedding at the hotel and the orchestra didn't stop until midnight. Don't get a front room facing the road, it was so noisy we couldn't sleep. There is no elevator in the hotel so be prepared to lug your bags up the stairs. The bathroom floor was filthy as was the carpet in our room.

Room Tip: Don't get a room facing the road.... very noisy.
