Over-rated rubbish.

This place was "sold" to me by colleagues - who said it had "gone down hill". Food was stodgy and lacked any creativity. Naan was like plastic sheeting. Plenty of other places in Prestwick to spend your money - avoid this one!

Sorry if i seem biased here but i do visit the Taj once a week and have been doing so for years! The reason?: in a word "food"! Dont expect your standard UK indian restaurant type food here, ive been in a thousand Indians and they all taste much the same. The Taj is very different food is much more "authentic" menu much more diverse and Bobby,Jags, Ruby and Perry make me feel like one of the family.
it does have its failings service can be poor if you encounter some of the younger untrained staff, but on the plus side many Prestwick kids have had there first taste of hard labour with a part time job in the Taj, no bad thing.
Bobby and his family are very much a big part of the community, and give a lot back in the way of sponsoring local sport teams etc.
Taj has won the Scottish curry awards twice up against formidable opposition from large Glasgow restaurants, and deservedly so. if your in the area try the buffet nights where you can sample some of the more diverse dishes on offer. if your used to "standard" city indian restaurants get ready to widen your outlook and tantalise your tastebuds. Chicken nawabi pasandi is a firm favourite with my missus, its a creamy tasty milder dish whereas i prefer Lamb minara which has a tangy flavoursome kick to it. all washed down with pints of Lal toofan a superb indian lager served on draft. Cant wait till Thursday for my next visit!

Have visited this place quite a few times over the years food is always of good standard on this occasion did not enjoy meal so much but this because always try something different and on this occasion not to our liking but will try it again.
Found out that tips are not passed to waitress who are mainly young pleasant students so slip it to them without the management noticing and definitely not include on card payment

Taj does not deliver consistently. Last time i was there at the buffet, I seen a member of staff fill up a container from the buffet for home delivery-- yeuch! I don't think it is good value for money and there are several better places in the area for indian food.

I have visited the Taj for years both for carry-out and sit in meals. Sadly 24th Junes meal will be the last one I buy from there. Having recently had a couple of not so great meals, we decided to give it one last chance. To cut a long story short our carry- out meal was inedible. From the dry tastless Chicken Pakora to the disgusting pieces of tough lamb in the thick gloopy sauce. Thankfully, there are other better indian restaurants in Prestwick who we will be giving our hard earned cash to at the week-ends.
