Can't believe how good this restaurant is and what fantastic value. Early dinner menu is amazing had best chicken Caesar salad ever as starter followed by Cajun salmon. Scallops with black pudding and duck breast with port sauce from a la carte coffee for 2 and a bottle of good quality Shiraz all for £53 . Service excellent atmosphere fantastic. You d be mad to miss out on this one!

“Not very consistent”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Visited Saffy's for lunch it was warm and relaxing however the food wasn't up to the standard as our last visits... orderd the salmon and duck both dishes lacked substance. Expected better and that alone decided to give it 3/5

“Sorely dissapointed, will not be back!!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

I visited this restaurant about 2 years ago with friends and my partner. We loved the food, service and atmosphere and raved it about it to everyone and some friends and family visited themselves, based on our recommendation. Myself and my husband decided to go to Ayr for an overnight and right away, booked a table at Saffys. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were shown to our table and our drinks order was taken. We decided what to have quick quickly, but no-one seemed to notice that we were ready to order. After approx 15 minutes, my husband asked a member of staff and she quite abrupty said she couldn't take orders and someone else would come over. We waited another 5 minutes, then the waitress told us she couldn't take our order as the kitchen had a backlog. We were left quite baffled and really surprised as this had never happened to us before? After another few minutes, weing, and realised not many people around us were eating, and if we hadn't even been able to place our order, it might be some time before we had a starter. My husband went to the bar and paid for our drinks and we left. I work in hospitality and fully appreciate that things can go wrong Front of House (or in the kitchen), but what I don't understand is how this was dealt with. The waitress should have explained this from the offset and gave us the option to stay or not; they could have gave us some complimentary nibbles to apologise for the wait, or even a drink, which wouldn't have cost that much. Instead they lost a booking that would've gave them about £60 in takings! Sorely dissapointed that we didnt get to try the amazing food we had at our last visit, but definetly wouldn't go back due to the apalling service!!

“Delicious food, friendly service.”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

Staying opposite, at the Mercure, we found Saffy's the first night and ate there every night there after. Menu is varied, every dish I ate delicious, I wouldn't know which to recommend more. Lovely wine too and the service incredibly helpful and friendly.
