Reviewed March 20, 2011

Lovely B & B in a beautiful old Victorian/Edwardian sandstone building of period character on the outskirts of the lovely seaside town of AYR in Ayrshire. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Very flexible, comfortable and clean with a great athmosphere of old world charm and spaciousness. Only 5 minutes from the town and seafront with stunning views of the sea and hills in the distance.

Rooms are all in colour schemes, great curtains on huge windows, Very atmosperic, old house, set back from the street.
Within walking distance from the town (shopping, cinema) and 10 min in the car to Robert Burns Cottage, 10 min walk to the sea, restaurants and hotels close by.
Lovely breakfast.
The only thing is there is not much room for cars to park, since the drive is crammed with 2 cars already.

I had the pleasure of staying at Canter Holm B&B the hosts May & Jim were warm friendly and very welcoming. The elegant 150 year old Victorian home has been artfully decorated with tastful Chinese accents to reflect May's heritage and a friendly story or two from Jim. Bubba the family dog is the friendly mascot. The home isbright and clean, the rooms are spacious & is a short two block walk from the beach.

We have returned to this wonderful place every two years since we found it on spec in 2002 . The welcome is a big smile, warm and very friendly, the atmosphere homely, the food fantastic and made to order just for you. The rooms are well furnished and beautifully decorated, with a hint of the Orient mixed with typical Scottish hospitality. They have been frequenty refreshed and the standard lifts each time. Access is available throughout the day, can't think of any other place that allows that. Having visited with an ailing companion on more than one visit, this was a boon for us.
