Nice main building. Accommodation is disappointing. It's like a block of council flats over the road from the main building. It's ok. Not sure why everyone is raving about it. Averagely priced with nothing exceptional. Ask for a room in the main house. This hotel needs to include a picture of their 'annexe' on their website.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review regarding your stay. It is always disappointing to read negative comments regarding the quality of our "courtyard rooms" they are graded as four star bedrooms with additional touches in the rooms. I am sorry we did not exceed your expectations on this occasion. Thank you for your comments regarding the pictures on the website of the bedrooms I will ensure the pictures are still on the website.
I hope you will return and sample our main house rooms which are available at a supplement price to the courtyard rooms.

Kind regards

A huge thank you to all the staff that we had the pleasure to meet during our stay. Everyone was most helpful and very pleasant throughout. The accommodation was spotless with good size bed and the hotel was really warm and snug in the middle of December. The Western House hotel definitely goes the extra mile that one normally expects only from more expensive hotels. Dinner was a wonderful experience and the best coffee to finish the meal ever. In the morning breakfast was a joy which set us up for the day. We look forward to a return visit in 2014.

I stayed here two nights as Western House was the venue for my cousins wedding. We arrived after midnight on the Friday and checked in. We chose to stay in the courtyard as we only needed a bed for the two nights as we'd be busy the whole next day. We ordered a couple of drinks and they were brought over swiftly even though it was around 1am.

The wedding the next day was amazing. Laura was great with my blind Dad and took him on a wee tour of the building and into the ballroom to show him when he was sitting - amazing service I thought. The meal was good and the service wasn't too shabby either! Kieran and Nathan did really well and made sure we were all very well looked after! I passed on the starter sheerly because I can eat seafood and didn't want an alternative (although one was offered), had lentil soup as an intermediate, Chicken for the main course and skipped dessert. All very good indeed! Couldn't fault the two courses I ate - thanks Mr Cuthbert!!

The next morning we had breakfast in the ballroom to accommodate the large volume of guest at the wedding. I thought it was a great idea to put all non wedding guests into the Jockey Club for breakfast to avoid that "oh god I've just crashed a wedding" feeling. Breakfast was ok as it was a buffet breakfast - my pet hate but that's a personal thing. I must point out that the buffet was chosen and not automatically given for breakfast on this occasion! All of the food tasted great however and the service was good and non intrusive.

Definitely worth a visit and all the staff are fantastic from reservations, to the wedding team to the housekeepers! Bar staff weren't to bad either! Thanks for a great stay guys! See you in February!

fantastic location with superb rooms and always a warm and friendly welcome. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms are spacious with the added bonus of a wonderful shower!
Breakfast is as good as it gets with the Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Egg being amongst the very best that I have ever eaten!!
Always try and get a room here whenever I come across to Ayr and hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are excellent and although I have never stayed in one of the rooms in the main build...

Very comfortable room, great facilities, really friendly staff and fantastic food.
Only niggle was the lack of a plug point adjacent to the bed for my phone charger.
If I was working in the area again or visit the area for pleasure I would love to stay here again. 9.5 out of 10

We stayed here recently on DBB basis as a wee treat from my husband. The hotel was lovely, so warm and welcoming, staff were very pleasant too. We stayed in a courtyard room which was perfect all mod cons, the most comfortable queen size bed and little luxuries like sweets, robes/slippers, shortbread etc. dinner was amazing! I expected there to be supplements on top of what we'd paid but no, it was any 3 courses from the a la carte menu, we were also offered the festive menu. There was a party might on but we weren't disturbed, hubby took advantage of the mulled wine on offer. All the food was excellent, breakfast included! Such a lovely place with beautiful grounds. Cannot say anything bad about it, well done western house, hope to return soon!

Me and my husband stayed here unexpectedly for a anniversary recently & really really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were gorgeous. They had everything you could ever imagine and the most AMAZING and comfortable beds. Queen sized and full of pillows, with extra in the massive mirrored wardrobes, one of the best nights sleeps I've had in my life. the TV was large and the drinks section was fantastic, hot chocolates, choices of coffee, lots of teas and cream and milk. no mini-bar however. Bathroom was presented lovely, with lots of lovely bottles of shampoo, body lotion... etc. There were robes and slippers provided, some gorgeous biscuits and sweets. There was a huge dresser/desk with stationary, menus, an Ayrshire booklet & a Free DVD rentals sheet. A drinks table with two tub chairs and lots of different drinks glasses. the rooms, corridors and reception and grounds were kept immaculate. The car park was huge, and everything was very well organised. A really beautiful hotel and we will definitely be staying here again when we are in the area to visit family.

Room Tip: we stayed in the newer buildings, the room was excellent
