The gardens are nice, kind of smallish, but a pleasant 15 minute walk up to the brig'o'doon. Monument was being renovated, so it was covered in work scaffolds...

I have been to these gardens many times and never tire of looking around them, there was some refurbishment going on but it didn't spoil it, it really is well worth a visit, and then you can pop in to the Museum, goodness really took me back to my school days.

The gardens were well maintained. We climbed up the stairs of the scaffold-clad memorial to see views over Alloway and down to Tam o' Shanter's famous escape route from Nannie the witch over the Brig o' Doon.

Sadly the monument is currently being surveyed and you could not see any of it for scaffolding. Having paid entry to the museum we were a bit disappointed that we could have visited the gardens for free.

Beautiful Gardens though the monument is currently under reconstruction so we weren't able to view this.
