Many famous names have trodden the boards at the Gaiety. Opened in 1902 it is a welcoming and attractive theatre with an interesting history and a unique auditorium. Closed by the local council in January 2009 the Gaiety reopened in December 2012 as a social enterprise company and a charity run by volunteers. A full and varied programme is offered every week plus a summer season and a Christmas Pantomime.

There's a great buzz and atmosphere in the restaurant, though it can be a bit of a thoroughfare if you happen to be dining when a theatre performance is starting/ending. The décor is smart and very chic - a total transformation from the old eatery at the Gaiety.

Food was beautifully presented and the specials options were great value for money. The table configuration was very flexible and the waitresses were happy to move stuff about to accommodate different numbers etc.

This is such a handy spot, a few steps off the main shopping street and would be a great place for coffee too. There are a couple of low tables and couches just inside the main door for just that purpose but we found it quite draughty and didn't sit as long as we might have.

Elaine and I went to the cult cinema night at the Gaiety, "The Rocky Horrror Show".
Dressing up was required and a prize was given for the best.
While these nights are new and not well advertised the audience had a great time with full participation.
Cost is very reasonable, support this reopened now Arts complex and enjoy.
We are going back tomorrow for "A hard days night"
