“A Must Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

While visiting Ayr last weekend (25th Oct 2013) we called in for a swift drink to the Black Bull Public House and Restaurant. What a wonderful experience, the warm welcome from the lovely bar man (possible the manage/owner) was a hit straight away.My tipple is brandy and coke and i never have it served in a brandy bowl (glass) , well i did here, i'm sure it tates better when it is presented better ha ha. We were then offered some home made soup on the house, which was beautiful. The customers all probably locals were all chatting to us. This has got to be one of the friendliest bars/restaurants i have visited for many a long day. We went in for one, stayed for four and had a wonderful afternoon, so thank you. So if you are going to Ayr, walk accross the bridge, next door to TK Max, and call in, you wont regret it.

“Plain but good food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

The food is good but plain and worth the money. The soup is homemade and served piping hot. Its a pity that the venue is a bit dingy and although it is clean its so drab that it doesn't look it. I really don't like the fact that customers from the bar trail through the restaurant to get to smoking area. I might be being a bit snobby here but the pub clientele can be a bit rough and quite well on with drink at a lunchtime and I don't like being exposed to that when I'm eating but each to his own. We've stopped going and used to be regulars when it was on Auld Brig. Much preferred it when this restaurant was located on the Auld Brig and separate from a pub.

“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Went for breakfast and had 9 items including toast and tea or coffee for £3.75. As I don't like beans for breakfast , I was given choice of having an extra item without charge. Service was quick and staff were very friendly. Also been for lunch and you can have two meals for £7-50. Not a lot of choice but macaroni was delicious. They also do pensioners lunch for £5.00. Would recommend the retaurant.
