We stayed with Margot at the Cragallan Guest House on our way from Lands End to John O'Groats (Husband and brother in law cycling). Margot was wonderful, did all our washing (and dried it!)
made sure the bikes were locked up so we didn't have to empty the car! You couldn't wish for a more hospitable landlady.
The rooms are lovely, very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was just delicious, the blueberries and fresh strawberries were the icing on the cake! Wish we could have stayed longer.
I would highly recommend Cragallan to anyone wanting to stay in Ayr.

Margot McLaughlin has won various awards as Landlady and Gardener but it is her friendly helpful approach which stands out. Great central but sea front location, and great contacts for golfing, the race course and the burns festival(as well as the best eateries!

On our first visit to Scotland, we stayed one night in Ayr, just to be ready for our early flight in the morning from Prestwick Airport. But at Craggallan Guest House, we found the best hospitality on the whole trip! Margot had made a fantastic home for us on our short stay. Every detail was so neatly made, the bathroom was special. And the Scottish breakfast was the most solid and wonderful we ever had during our trip. Our best recommendations to others who think of going to Ayrshire. Stay for more than one night!
