“Great hotel”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

My husband and I stayed for two nights over the week-end. When we arrived the girl at the reception desk said they had upgraded our room to the honeymoon suite. When we opened the door of the room we couldn't believe the size. The bathroom was also large with a jacuzzi bath.
We had a meal in the hotel resturant which was really good. All the staff were lovely and friendly.
My husband and I had just turned 60 and this was a wee week-end away to celebrate. We couldn't have asked for better especially being upgraded to the honeymoon suit, this was the icing in the cake. Thank you Fairfield for making our birthday really special.

Arrived at the hotel to find that the room my wife and I were put in was your basic double room when I had booked as per advertised an executive suite.
I would not have minded so much but we were not advised about this change at check in.
The room was a bit shabby and with the warm weather we could not get the window to open for some fresh air.
No tourist info in the room or at reception.
Plus points were that the staff were friendly and helpful.
Would maybe stay here again to make use of the leisure suit.

Room Tip: There are no sea views according to the receptionist so if you want one with a view , dont go there...

Stayed here to treat my girlfriend to a birthday night away. Everything about the hotel was excellent. Great location looking over the seafront, nicely styled and very welcoming on arrival. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, room was a great size and nicely decorated in a classic but modern style. We tried out the leisure facilities too, the pool is small but perfect for just relaxing in and the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are all great too. Highlight of the stay was the food in Martin's restaurant, we enjoyed 3 excellent courses each, with my partner ordering fillet steak for her main, it was melt in the mouth perfect and the thrice cooked chips were great (huge portion). We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast deal and it was excellent value. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice little escape to relax for a night or two. Will def be back.

Stayed one night in Ayr, to visit Dumfries House in Cumnock. Lovely situation, very clean, friendly receptionist, nice big room, really liked the lighting in bedroom and bathroom, I have poor eyesight and usually find hotel rooms too dark. Dinner was excellent, only very small thing was that I had booked a table for dinner when I booked room and confirmed it with reception on arrival, but when we went to dining room they had no booking for us, but soon found us a table.
Breakfast was also very good. Would recommend this hotel and stay again.

During my recent golfing odyssey to the UK, I found myself at this marvellous little gem in Ayr, Scotland for 3 nights.

The hotel is nestled happily at the end of the common, which runs between it and the beach. So, plenty of sea air and activities for the children with fairs and playgrounds close by.

I was welcomed by the lovely Morven, who made sure my every need was expertly attended to and happily assisted with several incidental items for which I asked her help with. She always did it with such good grace and favour it was a pleasure to work with her.

Fairfield House is an old style hotel with a beautifully appointed foyer with a beautiful staircase from which you can make a grand entrance!

I was in an executive suite, which was spacious and comfortable, with a large and modern bathroom. (Showers are over the bath, which can be challenging to get in and out of).

Beds are comfortable, but not luxurious, unfortunately.

Rooms have high ceilings which adds to the feeling of spaciousness.

Most importantly, the rooms were very clean and tidy.

And then there is the restaurant - Martin's Bar and Grill, which was sheer delight and indulgence. After the excellent first night dining there I continued to return for the subsequent two nights as the quality of the food, the presentation was superb. Chef Liam does a fabulous job with his food and its presentation Readers should refer to the restaurant item posted in that section.

In summary, a very enjoyable stay, supported by excellent staff, a great restaurant, peace and tranquillity and a jolly good time.

Room Tip: ASk for a first floor room / suite, overlooking the sea and the Island of Annan - will only add to t...

We had an overnight stay & dinner here as a treat for my birthday. From start to finish we enjoyed our stay & the staff were pleasant & attentive. The food was excellent. I previously stayed in this hotel several years ago & enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly & professional staff but most of all the excellent food. It was as good as I remembered.
