“Hotel and Staff very accommodating”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

From arrival to departure, all staff were warm and welcoming. We changed booking at last moment to enable our 10 y/o granddaughter to travel with us and we were 'upgraded' at no extra cost. 24hrs after arrival our granddaughter became ill (flu) and the staff were caring and attentive, providing any extra comfort our granddaughter needed.
Dining room catered for all needs, from coffee with friends, snack and fully dinner menu as required. Food was excellent.

The entrance to this hotel and the restaurant at the front are fabulous. It is a shame that this luxury does not continue throughout. On the website it shows some very nice rooms, but unfortunately we did not get one of these, despite being upgraded to a sea view. The room was plenty big enough, but the decor was tired. Perhaps they are in the process of modernising the rooms, but this one needed doing. The same can be said of the Spa and so called Gym. Whoever took the photo for the pool deserves a medal as it didnt give us the same wow when we saw it in the flesh. Neither I or my wife wanted to use the facilties and after looking through the window of the gym, I decided not to use that either. This whole area of the whole needs some rennovation.

Back in the restaurant the evening meal, and subsequent breakfast were brilliant. Great service and first class food, just a shame it not throughout.

Last minute booking as we had forgotten that we had a wedding reception in Ayr to attend!
Very reasonable B&B price given to us, even more reasonable when we saw our room... It was huge!! I don't even know if there's a name for a bed that big! Beautiful big bathroom, period style furniture, plenty of little extras around the room and a lovely seating area by the window to have our morning coffee and watch the mist roll off of the sea. In fact we bailed out of the wedding early to come back to the hotel and slob about the room!
Breakfast was tasty, staff were friendly and courteous and we would happily recommend to our friend and family!

I have just returned from this hotel for a weekend stay with a friend. We wanted a lazy break away that provided everything we needed on site and where we could relax with a little luxury - we were not disappointed. From the moment we booked in everything, from the rooms to the service to food was perfect. We ate in the restaurant both mornings and evenings and found the food and service excellent. I really couldn’t find any fault with this hotel – friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and spotlessly clean. Thanks for a fantastic weekend!

Stayed here recently as part of a group of 9 so had 4 rooms. All rooms were very clean and each room was different, our rooms were in old part of building (old in age of building seems to b a more modern extension this is not a criticism at all as rooms were huge!) room size was brilliant and bath room was huge. Would definetily stay again. Food was lovely had 2 meals and breakfast in hotel. Staff catered for us very well was my fathers 60th and were happy to bring through cake we provided and sing for us, these things make a difference. No one minded when my niece (2 year old) was moving orniments/decorations. Staff happily moved tables for use to sit together. Beautiful understated Christmas decorations were being put up whilst we stayed. Pool area was nice but a bit dark and nice fluffy towels provided at pool

This is mysecond visit to the Fairfield and I will definately be back. The room was extremely comfortable and the staff were superb. The breakfast was really tasty. Pity I could only stop one night but would love to come back with my husband to make full use of the gym and enjoy some long walks on the beach. Have been twice on business and would like to go for a short break

Stayed in standard room which I believe would be classed as executive in many other establishments. Room very well equipped and comfortable though quite quirkily shaped. Food was of a very high standard with a good, inventive menu selection. Staff welcoming and pleasant.
Would rate this hotel higher... but, was in a room (4) near the top of the stairs. No door around closes quietly. They all seem to bang shut. No doubt if I'd asked I could have been moved but once you get settled you don't really want the upheaval. I would strongly suggest that the settings or the strength of automatic door closers is looked at, especially on the top landing.
I'd certainly stay again but would take this into consideration.
