We had an overnight stay at this hotel it was absolutely wonderful, lovely huge bedroom with en-suite and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We also booked our evening meal in the restaurant the food was excellent as was the breakfast, we will most certainly be returning to this hotel.

Recently stayed at the Chestnuts Hotel with a group of 15 golfing lads. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating for the group offering top class service and local knowledge at a competitive price. We stayed for 3/4 nights as a group including local admittance to 3 brilliant golf courses. The hotel was clean, welcoming, and the food there was brilliant. The bar and restaurant do get busy but only as a sign of the quality an repeat business. Breakfast was a great choice of full cooked, or a choice to suit everyone. The staff were very helpful in setting the group up with local restaurants of our choice and directing us to place to eat/drink in Ayr. The bar served a good choice of real ales at good prices also. This was my first stay but the group has stayed previous and we have booked again for next year.

We spent one night at the chestnuts, a lovely hotel in Ayr 5 minutes walk from the beach. We had room 3 which was huge, lovely room with a on suite. The room was so relaxing and spacious. We had dinner in the restaurant which was fantastic huge portions no space for dessert!! Breakfast was made to order which was a nice change from the usual buffet style breakfast. All the staff were warm and welcoming, all in all it was a great place to stay and very reasonable. I am sure when we return to Ayr this will be our first stop.

Room Tip: Room 3 was lovely with huge windows, relaxing sofa and a comfy bed.

7.95 supper menu excellent value/ good bar and nice restaurant although a little on the small side; menu somewhat limited but what they do, they do well. Without doubt a clear indication that good food and nice surroundings don't have to cost the earth

My wife and I stayed at the Chestnuts on the 27th may 2014 for four nights we had a fantastic stay the bedrooms although have kept a lot of their character the bathrooms are very modern and all spotless the staff are all very friendly and attentive from the lady who attends to the room right up to the owner who is always around and always willing to help , There is a lovely restraunt serving excellent food to a very high standard and serves an excellent breakfast also there is a lovely public bar to relax in for that end of day tipple , The hotel is just on the edge of the town and a nice walk along the beach taking about 20 minutes or by taxi at very reasonable rates £2.90 ,We will definately be back to the Chestnuts when next visiting Ayr and would not hesitate in reccomending the hotel to family and friends

Room Tip: We had room 6 at the side of the building overlooking the garden which was lovely

Trip Advisor pointed our way to the Chestnuts and we were not disappointed. The staff were pleasant, efficient and responsive, at times going the extra mile to ensure our group were well looked after. Food, drink and rooms were all first class. As a golfing group we have been travelling away for 32 years and our stay at the Chestnuts was certainly one of the best.
