We have visited here before for a meal and were really impressed by the friendliness, atmoshere, service and food that we were desperate to go back and stay. We are so glad we did. The welcome on arrival puts most hotels to shame. The owner makes you feel like a long lost friend, he is a fantastic host and all the staff reflect his approach. The room was lovely and had a nice big bath in the ensuite. There was bottled water on each bed table (a nice touch). The breakfast was to die for. The dining room is lovely with views across large open areas and large buildings, bright and airy. The Scottish breakfast was beautiful, tasty, well presented and grease free, outstanding. All in all a beautiful experience.

I visit:ed this hotel many years ago where it was very popular with diners, but it seemed thinking back a little reserved. The Chestnuts Hotel is even more popular with plenty of regular customers with a good mix of bar diners and drinkers. The bar menu has a lot to offer at affordable prices, my 90 year old mum in law had fish and stated it was the best ever high praise indeed, there are plenty of friendly staff to look after you, even the front door was opened for us as we approached. We will be back to have an evening dinner soon. The one fault was the wine looks a little pricey the cheapest at £16 a bottle. I would recommend booking as even for bar meals tables fill up as they become available.

Stayed for 2 nights. Convenient having an excellent restaurant within the hotel, extensive menu and deserts fantastic!
Rooms well presented and equiped and the staff are very friendly and made us feel like their only guests.
Quiet location and ideally situated. We'll definitely go back when in Ayr.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4
