Description: The Ashoka Shak in Linwood was the first Ashoka Shak to open back in 2001, and the stylish, sassy Indian diner has been drawing locals back time and time again for their delicious curries and spicy sharing platters. Located in the Phoenix Leisure Park, close to the Glasgow airport, the restaurant has a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and an extensive menu offering everything from classic curries to fish and chips. We love the Tandoori Mixed Grill with tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, pather kebabs, lamp chops and barbecued king prawns; the Salmon Tikka marinated in yoghurt and spices, barbecued and served with masala mint chutney; and the Lamb Rogan Josh curry cooked in a rich sauce with tomatoes and cream.

“Balti curry cooking course”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Had a great time at the balti curry course! Bought a Groupon deal for my hubby's Christmas and we were very impressed. Staff were very helpful, everything was well prepared for our arrival. In 3 hours we made vegetable pakora, pakora sauce, raita sauce, spiced onions, chapati, pilau rice and a Karahi chicken bhoona. We got to take everything home that we made. We then sat down to a free drink and some pakora, poppadoms and spiced onions. Only one thing missing, a certificate at the end, just for the fun of it.

“Lunch 26th Feb”
Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

Visited Ashoka Linwood with my parents on 26/02. First impressions were poor due to cramped dining area and cleanliness issues (I had to wipe my cutlery and glasses with my napkin). Ordered the lunch tali @ £6.95 which I thought offered good value. Food was good, although there was not a lot of meat in the curries. We mentioned to the waitress we were in a hurry and food was brought quickly which was great.

Overall we thought what we got merited the price we paid but the cleanliness issues would likely put us off returning.

“Delicious”
Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

Had dinner here prior to a movie at Phoenix.Curry I had was delicious if perhaps a little light on chicken.Staff were great and very attentive/ friendly.Perhaps a little pricey for what you get, yet still well worth visit.Looked like take away option is very popular too.

“Another Fantastic Meal at Asoka Linwood”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

My partner and I regularly visit Ashoka Linwood when going to the pictures nearby.

The food and the service are absolutely fantastic and I think between us we have tried just about everything on the menu.

One of the best things about the restaurant is that they are always willing to spend some time explaining the dish, what is in it and how it is cooked. At home we regularly cook using Ashoka recipes and if we ever have any questions re reproducing their food the chef's are always willing and ready to share their tips and tricks.

The serving staff (especially Sharon) are always articulate, polite and ready whenever you need them.
