As can be seen on previous reviews, this property cannot be faulted. Spacious, cosy, clean and quirky. A real credit to the owners attention to detail. Very friendly couple without being intrusive. Great location for walking or visiting this lovely part of Scotland.
What an amazing place to stay. The Cow Shed2 is absolutely beautiful, equipped with everything you need. We were amazed with overall quality particularly knowing that Steve and Kirsti had renovated it all themselves. The bed is sooo big and comfy it was hard to get up in the morning ! We spent most of our week walking and Steves guides were brilliant! If you have the legs for it ,we would recommend anyone to walk the full 10 miles around Glen Tilt as the scenery was simply gorgeous, just follow the yellow markers. True to Scotland we had a little rain but we were snug and cosy after lighting the stove and curling up on the sofa. We would love to (and are planning to) come back and would highly recommend staying here!!
Stayed in late March. Very nice couple of days. Scottish weather true to form. Scorchio one day, mist and cold the next. No worries. The cottage copes well. Roasted? Get all the doors open. Frozen? Light the fire and you'll be toasty in no time. The underfloor heating is great as well. The design and execution of Cowshed 2 is top notch. Great attention to detail to make the guest comfortable. Worthy of mention that Steve and Kirsty have used lots of interesting building techniques on the cottage, although it took me a while to spot the straw bale wall.
Low level flying exercise by single RAF Eurofighter was amazing. I could have reached out with one hand and shaken the pilot's hand. I had a gin ands tonic in the other hand at the time, so couldn't hug him. Don't let that prospect put you off. It was an interesting side show in what was otherwise a very comfortable relaxed stay in a cottage with all mod cons, hosted by lovely people. Fab views. I would/will go back. Well done - great advert for Scottish tourism.
This was a fantastic stay, I can't praise it enough. The hosts were very lovely, accommodating, helpful, and very talented - they should be interior designers as we were blown away when we first walked in! There was a lovely selection of local produce to greet us on the kitchen counter (the kitchen counter is another story... beautifully hand made by the hosts!) The view, surroundings and local area was stunning. We will most definitely be booking again next year! Thanks Steve and Kirsty for an amazing memorable week! X
You rarely see a property on Tripadvisor that only has 5 star reviews. The Cow Shed 2 certainly deserves it.
This is a fabulous place to stay. It has been lovingly restored by the owners Steve and Kirsty. They are warm and friendly hosts, and always available for advice. They have thought of everything. From the extremely well equipped kitchen, the range of DVDs, to the extensive collection of information on what to do and see in the area.
Everything is of a very high quality. The bed is large and very comfortable, the towels big and fluffy and the crockery stylish and in keeping with the overall feel of the property.
The main room is spacious with high ceilings and very cosy under floor heating. Steve not only rebuilt ‘the shed’ but hand crafted the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, built the main light fittings and took some beautiful pictures that hang on the walls. Well done Steve!
To cap it all off, the views are beautiful and there are lots of interesting walks and things to do.
I highly recommend The Cow Shed 2.
We found this place via google/tripadvisor whilst looking for a place for the two of us to stay, as we wanted to revisit the enchanted forest event held in Pitlochry. Having extensive knowledge of the west coast of Scotland, we decided to stay in the Pitlochry area, in order that we could explore a little more. Booking was easy, the directions provided were excellent, and we arrived at the property without difficulty. A very warm welcome from Steve, and some very fresh, and particularly tasty bread, scones and honey were provided and were very welcome. The cottage itself was very nicely furnished, and had everything you could need. The heating worked well, and the provision of the log burner, although not required for warmth, was still welcome of an evening, adding a nice cosy feel, especially on the dark evenings. The cottage also had an extensive selection of details and information leaflets for the local area, which helped us to do a little planning. We will definitely stay here again in the future, as a week was simply not long enough :)

Cowshed 2 has been handcrafted by the owner and is totally unique, from the straw bale wall ( see framed glass panel) to the kitchen units. When you visit see if you can guess what they are made from? The underfloor heating keeps you warm, but if you like it hot then fire up the woodburner. The view is fantastic. It's clean and the hosts are lovely. There are plenty of woodland and river walks close by and Pitlochry is only a couple of miles away. As the saying goes the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And we have just had our third helping of cowsheds!
