“A delightful one nighter!”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Arrived at the small family hotel which was very central to the town & was pleasantly greeted by the owners daughter who gave us a map of the local area & gave us Advice on what restaurants & pubs were considered the best. Hotel was warm & cosy & our room which was a superior double was spacious & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, fresh & warm. The owners, Graeme & Diane were very friendly & chatty. The hotel stay made our weekend.

Room Tip: Our Superior double was an extra large bed in a spacious en-suite room which included tea making fac...

We stay in pitlochry 2 or 3 times a year and have stayed in several hotels , b&bs and apartments with our 2 dogs including the claymore itself which is one of the best but our stay in the apartments (killicrankie) was far and away the nicest ,most comfortable and relaxing holiday we've ever had . The apartments are done to a very high standard and have very modern kitchens , large tvs , huge shower and the most comfortable bed i've ever slept in . Close to the town centre and all amenities and with great walks for the dogs on your doorstep this is the perfect place to stay .

Here is a beautiful property set in well manicured grounds, a perfect delight to the eye when you approach the hotel. Nothing changes when you enter, a warm welcome from the owner and shown to a ultra comfortable room with a huge bed, tasteful furniture, a roomy wash space with a lovely enclosed shower and plenty of luxurient towels to dry off with.
Breakfast was delightful with a decent selection and plenty of it.
I got the impression that nothing was too much trouble for the folks who run this place and I would recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a break away in this delightful small town.

Another great stay at The Claymore (we are so happy we have found this jewel), making a much needed long weekend so relaxing. The immaculate accommodation, fantastic breakfast and lovely friendly helpful service made the weekend a Real Treat.

Booking directly on your website really made the arrangements nice and simple as usual.

Congratulations on Winning the 2012 award for Excellence and for your fabulous garden - both awards are well deserved.

Thanks again Diane and Graeme for making us so welcome and we hope to be back again soon.

I booked online on the owner's website, choosing from available occupancy shown on the website, entering my personal and card details. I received an email at 11:45 saying my booking was provisional and that the owners look at the online bookings every morning and will confirm the booking. Now, the whole purpose of booking online and giving card details is - well - to make a booking, a confirmed reservation there and then. I was on business and this was just a few days in advance, I needed the comfort that my accommodation was in place. I waited until around 10am the next day - no confirmation. I had to call the Claymore; after some discussion at the 'other end', I got a verbal confirmation; at 14:00 I got an email confirmation. Conclusion - phone for reservations.
These self-catering apartments are behind the Claymore Guest House, well back from the road, but just a couple of minutes walk in to town. Parking is outside the door. We were courteously greeted then shown to a first floor apartment that is clearly quite new, and, for the kitchen in particular, ultra-modern. With wood-look laminate floors throughout, this is very easy to maintain apartment if you are here for several days (vacuum cleaner is in a hall cupboard with iron and ironing board). Washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen; very well equipped kitchen complete with small freezer. Large TV with DVD player in a comfortable combined lounge, kitchen and dining area. Wi-fi is OK for browsing and email, but struggles with video. Worthy of note is the huge shower cubicle. Gas fired boiler provides lots of hot water and the central heating - very warm on the cold nights we were there. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Don't book online - It's not a live booking system.

A friend and I are curently working our way through the Scottish Munros - this particular weekend in November 2012 we were in and around Rannoch and Blair Atholl. The Claymore hotel offered us the perfect rest spot after a long day in the hills. The building is a beautiful victorian structure, located on the main Pitlochry road a couple of minutes walk from Pitlochry's shops and restaurants. The room that we had was a very comfy twin, spotlessly clean, warm, and very well appointed. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice including the obligatory "full Scottish" - just what we needed to set us up for the day. The owners were very friendly and, all in all, it helped to make for an excellent weekend.

Excellent location, beautiful old Victorian house and very peaceful. Owner was friendly and informative. The breakfast filled us up right until a 4pm visit to the HIghland Chocolatier. My only quibble was that the room could have done with a double radiator as was a little bit chilly but we were given another blanket on request so it was all good and had a brilliant night's sleep. I would definately come back to stay here.
