“The only place to stay in Pitlochry!”
Reviewed June 13, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for two nights in June, 2012. We arrived a little late in the evening, but the proprietors were right on top of it for us. Made sure that we got a reservation a good place to eat before it was too late. That sort of top notch service continued throughout our stay. We stayed in the Bothy. It was a great room, loved every minute of it. Very clean and well appointed. We also had nice enough weather to enjoy the little table and chairs set up outside the room. Don't miss the breakfast! We had a hard time deciding whether to have full Scottish or porridge both were done extremely well. We didn't have occasion to enjoy some of the other public rooms but they looked very nice. If you are thinking about coming to stay here, just do it! You can't go wrong.

Hi Tuirc. Thanks for the great review. The Bothy is proving very popular and I am delighted you enjoyed it as well. The food photos you posted look like they are from our local restaurant, The Auld Smiddy. One of our favourite restaurants in town, i hope you enjoyed it as well. Thanks again, Struan.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Pitlochry for a wedding last weekend and decided to stay in a local bed and breakfast instead of in the Atholl Palace Hotel (location of the wedding). We were both glad we decided to stay in Torrdarach House as the service and hospitality we received was superb.
We stayed in the beautifully converted bothy which was ideal as we were out late for the wedding and meant we didn't disturb anyone upon our return later on in the evening. Everything was spotless and there is so much attention to detail at the Torrdarach House. The breakfast we had on Sunday morning was delicious and perfectly cooked. Just what we needed after one to many whiskies the evening before! Louise served us a lovely breakfast shot which was a blend of porridge oats and fresh berries. It was such a nice way to start breakfast and quite a good hangover cure too! The whole house is beautifully decorated and in such a wonderful location that we can't wait to go back. The breakfast room is definitely a highlight.
I had put in a request to check in early which was absolutely no problem for Struan and Louise. They called us en route to let us know that our room was ready for us early. Unfortunately, we ended up getting lost which set us back a bit but Struan kindly gave my boyfriend a lift to the wedding location after he had dropped the car off. Things like this go such a long way and it makes a refreshing change to stay somewhere where nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you Struan and Louise for being such lovely hosts. Rachael and Douglas.

Room Tip: Try and book the bothy if you can!

Hi Rachael, Thanks for the excellent and detailed review! Great to hear you enjoyed your stay in The Bothy. Our new bedroom is proving to be a great success and we are really pleased with the feedback we are getting from guests. Happy to have been able to help out with a lift across town. I hope the headache has subsided! Thanks again, Struan.

Torrdarach house is located perfectly in Pitlochry with only a short walk to town yet on a stunning elevated spot with lovely views. The young owners are so warm and down to earth they make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door! They have an iPad for use which is really useful for browsing, planning and keeping in touch. The house has clearly been lovingly restored and the family really deserve this venture to succeed, which I am sure it will!! Breakfast is a tranquil and charming experience with fabulous views over the very interesting garden teeming with wildlife and those famous red squirrels. Topping this the food is also top quality and perfectly cooked and presented. The house is close to a stunning golf course and both the house and course is a must for all golfers. We had a truly lovely three days here and our room was very comfortable and well provided with a lovely shower room and luxury toiletries. There are an abundance of DVDs in case you want to just curl up and chill. Choose this lovely house as your 1st choice when visiting Pitlochry - we certainly will.

Room Tip: Room 2 has stunning views!

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Struan and Louise for looking after us during our Etape Caledonia stay in Pitlochry! Torrdarach House feels like a home from home for us as we always feel very relaxed and welcome the minute we arrive! The new breakfast room is amazing (so was breakfast itself!) we could have sat there all day watching the wildlife especially the cheeky red squirrels! The position of Torrdarach is ideal a short stroll down the road and you are in Pitlochry and we did a 13 mile round walk from the doorstep that took in some amazing countryside. Your friendly approach and high standards have us hooked on Torrdarach, we hope business continues to go from strength to strength and we will see you next year!! Best wishes Graeme & Corinne Davies

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 2 a great room with a fab view to the front, a large comfy bed and a luxurious en...

Spent sadly only one night here. A. Very wonderful place. Our room was excellent with great views. The breakfast room has absolutely great views of beautiful wooded gardens. Lots of birds and red squirrels! Could have stayed for several days. Pitlochry is a wonderful area.

Room Tip: Pick a room facing the front garden (facing towards the High Street).

Hi Garry. Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Torrdarach House. Our new breakfast room is really coming into its own now that the garden is greening-up a bit and starting to fill with colour. Glad you liked it. Good to hear you also enjoyed the wider Pitlochry area too. Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Regards, Struan.

We spent two nights and from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and given lots of information about the local area and even booked us a table for dinner. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and the interior is luxurious without being stuffy. The homemade food and local produce are also worth a mention and made breakfast a real treat. Lousie and Struan made us feel welcome and provided excellent service - we didn't want to leave!
PS Also, we did see the red squirrels in the garden too - amazing!
