We were here for my birthday so we booked this hotel with the option of the 3 course meal. I'm gald I did too as the meal was very good for both of us.
The hotel is a couple of miles out of Pitlochry, which is no bad thing at all & is absolutely charming. The bar is frequented by friendly locals & as an added bonus has it's own brewery across the road which brews 4 splendid beers. It is of course stocked with a plethora of whisky's including the local distillery, Edradour.
I walked the roads up to the distillery & was rewarded with fantastic views for my efforts, something you wouldn't get down the road in Pitlochry.

Stayed here for one night near the end of June. We had a standard room on the second floor which was a little cheaper, and it was fine. We enjoyed the twisty halls and a step up/two steps down to get there- added to the atmosphere. The room was clean and plenty spacious. I was glad we didn't pay the extra money for a larger room. The bathroom was small, but not uncomfortable. We were there on a Friday night and the restaurant was booked and the bar was jammed with guests for a private party. Nevertheless, once we ordered, the food was served in a very timely way. It was typical pub food which was fine with us. Breakfast was in the beautiful dining room and was very nice as well. The only down side was that the hotel was a longer walk into Pitlochry than we had realized, and uphill all the way back.

Initially disappointed by the (standard) room, which was a bit small and twee but it had a lovely view and the bathroom was large and well appointed. Dinner was of a good standard on both nights and breakfast was tasty, although it's Scotland - let's have a fish option! However the best thing about this place is the excellent bar, which had roaring log fires, their own ale (highly recommended by my husband) and even a couple of dozing labs one of days we were there. This is a nice wee place, ideal for a reasonably priced short break, far enough (1 mile) from the coach tour mecca of Pitlochry.

We booked a superior room over the phone and arrived to find a shabby room just above the bar -so very noisy. We asked if they had another room and were given the key to another one by helpful staff. Unfortunately this room was worse than the first. The worst feature was the rickety, falling apart bed and dirty sheets - awful. We decide to pack up and go home without sampling the bar which was a pity. They didn't even ask why we were leaving. Shabby but not chic, don't stay here.

Booked and confirmed efficiently. Hotel took a little finding but when we arrived we were greeted by friendly locals and staff. Room was first floor and as previously described to us-roomy, comfortable and everything to hand.Service at dinner and after-excellent but food lacked flair and vegtables--nothing green-evidently the chef is French(Faulty Towers comes to mind!) Breakfast very good.
We would certainly return but without wanting to exaggerate would recommend refreshing the dinner menu---and advise that the maids do not sit outside the bedrooms in the morning having long loud chats.
