“Pleasant stay, nice views, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We stayed one night in this guest house after a long day of walking. Our room was at the top of two flights of stairs, but our reward for climbing was a pleasant view of the town and a lovely room with a large ensuite. The proprietors were friendly and helpful. We were traveling without a phone, and I had left my camera in a taxi earlier that day on our way back from the Edradour Distillery. The proprietors let us use their phone to call the taxi and even offered to wait for the taxi driver to bring the camera so that we could go out to dinner without having to wait around. We felt very welcome and we'll taken care of.

We are sorry you found the room lighting disappointing but it does have a total of five lights; a wall light, three bed lights and a large floor lamp, which should be more than sufficient.
The bathroom does need slight attention which we intend to complete in the winter. Because of this we offer the room at a bargain price, especially as the room is very large and has a big en-suite bathroom.

This is an old fashioned bed and breakfast that needs significant updating and as has been noted this is planned for some time in the future. Our two rooms had lovely outlooks but were very cramped and the ensuites were tiny with narrow showers and poor water pressure.

This bed and breakfast has great reviews so I'm surprised our experience was a little disappointing. It has potential to be more than it is at present but the small ensuites need clever designing - we are not tall yet they were a struggle. A bit of attention to small details of presentation might also give the accommodation a lift. Off street parking was a welcomed plus.

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed that you did not appreciate the Victorian charm of our home. We do indeed intend to do some upgrading of the decor over the winter months, but this will not involve any changes to the size or layout of the en-suites, as to do so would significantly detract from the character of the bedrooms. All of our shower cubicles are of standard sizes with the majority of them being the large, quadrant style or over bath showers.
We try to offer our guests something a little different, but there are plenty of other establishments that offer plain , bland, box-type accommodation that you may prefer in the future.

We stayed here for four nights based on a recommendation from friends. For a twin room we paid only £32 each per night. Carra Beag is ideally situated just off the High Street and no more than 10 mins walk from the railway station. The rooms were clean and well stocked with towels, we all had good nights sleep and the cooked breakfasts were ideal for us walkers. I would certainly return, a must stay in Pitlochry.

A very warm welcome. Superb breakfast with good variety and freshly cooked. Other reviews have noted that there is a need for some renovation but Richard and Sally (who have long experience in the business) have their plans following their recent purchase of the property. The location is excellent. We would happily recommend this guesthouse and visit again if we are in the area.

Very well located, dominating Pitlochry (over a small hill with "postcard" view, 1 minute walk from main town road), it was a nice surprise. Comfortable rooms, with fully refurbished bathrooms. Wide choice of food for breakfast, properly cooked. Recommended!
